Am ordering this and using UPS shipping. Can anyone say whether the parcel be caught in customs and if so how much and if any one have any previous experience please let me know

i had ordered but firstly mine was around $110 your is lot more.
also tower hobbies orders are huge in size.
customs is charged for sure and it will take around 40 days for it to reach.
secondly yours is tx rx whereas mine was car parts,so no in depth idea about txrx.

I don't think your order will be detained by customs. Duty may be around 20-28% depending on under what category customs sees this item.

still i think 7 days is too early might not be possible.

Very much possible Sir ... I have received RC stuff from UK in 3 days via UPS (saver).

Ups is good customs will be applied cause its above 400$ even if u ask tower hobbies to reduce rate in invoice uvstill have to pay customs  ....ups is safe nand if using saver plan it will reach in 7 days or else 4 days for sure and ups has its own custom check so they are not that harsh ....when u finalize ur order in comment ask towerhobbies  to reduce rate in invoice to 220 240$ u may still have to pay customs but it wont be that much ....but safty wise ups is great ...suggest dx8 more user friendly  than futaba ...

TOWER HOBBIES would never falsify their invoices. :)

i got my rc nitro car from amainhobbies through ups.....it took 6 days ....customs was 28% +rs500 clearance charges.....they will never detain your parcel....ups guys will clear it for you....i spoke with them when i received my parcel....they said they only show the invoices to customs officials and pay the duty through a demand draft.... and they get the money from us while delivering....it is much safer than usps...trust me.....the extra money is worth especially if you are ordering a tx/rx or something which is hard to get through post

It normally takes 3 weeks from US from the date of dispatch via unregistered mail

Very very high chances of it being caught by Customes!! Avoide importing Radios is my advice.

2.4Ghz stuff is no problem

5.8Ghz stuff may be a problem

I know many who imported, all caught by customes.(2.4 Ghz); 100% strike rate if its Delhi customs. I am not sure abt other cities.

Hmm ok - what exactly is the issue? Do they get a letter from customs stating that it is illegal?

 :giggle: When they didnt get anything for long and then they check status; then they found their radio lying with customs, then they call on phone to check with customs, where they are adviced to make a visit  :banghead:.

Yes, you are right, once we personally go there - its a different story  >:D

I was also once asked to visit, I instead send them a latter with payment proof. Within 2-3days of receiving letter, they released the radio with 30% duty  :banghead:

So best thing is not to do anything and wait for 3-4 weeks, they will get bored and release it.

no guarantee about customs - if it is small parcel (say 750gms or less) chances are it will be duty free.

No need to go anywhere to collect parcel - The postman in your area will deliver it to you and collect the duty (if applicable)

Dude, go ahead, like others have mentioned, if you are getting this shipped by UPS where you pay lot more for shipping, the advantage is that your Tx + Rx will come through the customs without much or any hassles.

And yes, it will come in pretty fast, not 40 days. Infact even USPS will not take 40 days for sure.

About under invoicing, Tower Hobbies will never under invoice. So its waste of time but still if you want you can try. Let us know if that do under invoice....

On the other hand if you can do with a Futaba 6EX (6 channel) 2.4 GHz Tx + Rx, then PM me as I have fresh box packed stock readily available.

But if you want 8FG Super for Air only and you cannot or do not want to use Futaba 6EX, then go ahead and order it but use UPS only as shipping for sure else your parcel will be detained at customs if shipped through USPS and practically you will have to bribe or get a lot of paper work done to get the Radio released.

@shauviks  -- did you ordered by UPS? what was your experience. Time frame, Customs ... ?  As you initiated the topic and helpful for the fellow forum members, if you can update the next.. as till now no info updated...

I have ordered through normal air international post from tower hobbies. can any one tell me whether Govt post man of my area will bring the parcel or it  can be any one i.e can private postman can also deliver it??

Your local postman(govn) will bring the parcel...  ;)

The tower hobbies is sending my product through           (Shipped Via: Intl Small Packet Air)  as they said they dont give tracking no of small packages in this case how can i track my parcel and if i can not track please any one who can tell me DETAILED INFO of the stages through which my parcel will come through

They may send the parcel through unregistered air mail, i have ordered many things from ebay.com and rctimer through unregistered airmail and not lost any money till now..
have lost 3-4 packages which has been refunded later on.. so wait for about 10-15 days then do sent a mail regarding the parcel..wait for the reply then.. hope it will reach you soon...  :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

If customs made any problem you will get a speed post from them and you need to submit the invoice first, And pay the duty to the local post man.

arun.sreelakam  thank you for all the answers you gave me as i wanted to know where exactly first my parcel will land and from there where will it go as my parcel is small it is coming via Intl Small Packet Air SO IN THIS CASE will customs make any issues and  can i inform my local postman and the head post office of my area of my parcel.the problem is i can not track my parcel as it is small and light. is there any place i can inquire about my parcel in india as i wanted to know who will receive it FIRST.

Its been 10 days that my parcel has been shipped   from tower hobbies by INTL SMALL AIR PACKET post(normal post) as i am in regular contact with my local post office as of now they haven't received any parcel till now , can anyone tell me is their any way i can contact the CUSTOMS directly is there any ENQUIRY no from wher i can check whether my parcel has come to delhi or not PLZ HELP

The last thing you should do is contact customs (unless you have lots of extra money :))

sanjayrai55  thank you for the re ply i just wanted to know even if my parcel is not under custom duty since it is very small and light even then i need to pay customs   if i cal them or not calling them will it make any difference?

if the parcel is without tracking number, then take a minimum 30 days of time to reach you. You shall probably not get charged any customs on it, if the invoice amount is not high. the 30 days time is general and very rare you will get it before.

anandparanjape  thank you for the reply but as you said if it takes that LOOONG a time soo in this case the parcel keeps lying with the customs for a long time as i think by air it shldn't take more than 6 days MAX for the parcel to reach india frm US.And my parcel is below 2K and less than 500 gm

it cant happen, it will come to your shipping address only

the parcel don't go to the dedicated custom office. the custom officers are present in the PostOffice only. So each parcel is presented in front of them in post office only and applicable duty is charged at the same time. Once this process is done then the package is forwarded to the local delivery/post office of the article for the delivery. 

The only thing you can do is go to post office, take local help and get your parcel present quicker in front of custom officer and get it cleared, but still you will not get instant delivery, as that has to go to your post office only. btw such places are warehouse with hundreds/thousands of parcels/packages etc. and not easy to find the small package that also without any number. (as if you have the number, then you can get contact with that respective loader of that zone.)  this is the whole process and you can try what you can do to save time if you don't want to wait.

minimum time is 30 days, as reaching parcel is not a major issue, the time required to present it infornt of the customs takes time, as they get hundreds/thousands of package every day to get clear from custom. there is no max time for it, as its entirely depends upon the custom loads and not to forget that this is the new year time too so they have extra workload too, other then series of govt. holidays.

I am planning to order rc radio worth 30 k from TOWER HOBIES USA through UPS post please can any one tell me about this order.

Firstly is it OK to order RC RADIO through TOWER HOBIES USA will our customs(ie india) create any issue and will they detain this?????

Secondly will they charge CUSTOMS through UPS if yes how much on product costing 30 k???

Thirdly how will i get my PARCEL if it is through UPS ,WILL someone come and deliver it to my place??

And lastly how much time does it take through UPS to reach my place ie delhi india?

Do not order Radios from anywhere except in India. It surely will get detained by the customs. And you will have to struggle a lot! Customs really messy when dealing with radios.
Where do you live in Delhi?

i stay in NOIDA but is ther any way i can buy from out side

@Anant- Some people manage to get radios within a week from outside by managing to convince their  relatives to bring them while they travel or simply by being lucky!

Many different things can happen. Like:
1. Your order may be detained and you will be asked to send an invoice.
2. You may have to pay a lot of custom tax.
3. The parcel may go through customs and land at your door without any problem(hope so)
4. Unexpected circumstances- depends on the case.

I bought four 8 channel SFHSS receiver from towers recently through normal priority mail and got it without any issues.

Sphere Hobbies is very good. you can always rely on nilesh. he will also help you with everything else you want.

@anantsingh i pm you to call about the shipping solution. anyway i also got 8FGA super radio from tower hobbies and paid 7.5K duty for it when i get it shipped via UPS. It took 7-10 days to reach me without any issue. I hope this answer all your questions.

In your order the custom tax was 30% is it all that high????

UPS people just tell that they are bringing parcel and get ready with the money. They don't take your approval if it needs to go to custom or not, as every package needs to pass through customs.

the time you spending on questions, should have USPS reached 1/2 way till now and when u order by ups in future, before UPS delivery it could have reached to you. anyway best luck with your purchase !

Mine was USPS priority mail.  Radio once but one of my relative paid and carried it by hand. Better not to take chancevby post.

I have ordered from tower hobbies number of times the recent which made on 6 August 2014 has not arrived yet as today its been 23rd day and one more order which i made after 6th Aug 2014 from tower hobbies was on 21st Aug 2014 and which has arrived before  and after 8 days  please help

Please can anyone help be or give their suggestion on why my order which i made on 21st came earlier and the order which i did on 6th Aug did not arrive yet

Both of them were through normal USPS priority airmail without tracking

Hi sundaram  thank you with that reply , but since i had 2 orders from tower hobbies as i had mentioned before so why is that the order which was shipped on 21 Aug 2014 reached me  in 8 days and the order which i made on 6 Aug 2014 has not reached me till now ???

How do the USPS people ship i mean do they have the same route to INDIA ???

There is always exception. You are lucky that the first one reached in eight days.  Yes sometimes you might get your package earlier than 45 days. But non tracking priority mail it's always safe to expect it later than 45 days
