Title: Poll - Pricing of Hobbyking products delivered in India
Post by: anwar on January 16, 2011, 05:55:25 PM
Admin Note : Poll originally posted by VC...

Regarding Hobby King products (except ARF / RTF kits which come in big packages), what would we be comfortable in paying? If the products were landed at our doorstep, anywhere in India, within 15 working days of our payment (no headaches about customs duties etc) what would we be ready to pay?

If someone offered to get it into India for us on the above terms, would "Product Price + EMS shipping + 30% of the composite" be Too High or Acceptable to us?  Example quoted below:

Product price $ 10 + EMS $ 3.5 - We pay $ 17.55 (130% of $13.5) and the product is delivered to our doorstep within 15 working days.

Is this equation acceptable or is it too high? Please vote.

All prices (for products and postage) will be on actuals as per the HK site.Total transparency guaranteed.

Regards,

VC

So this is roughly 75% higher than the HK list price.  It seems an OK/good deal on items that require EMS shipping (big/lots of lipos) etc.  It is probably not up to the mark on items that come via registered parcels, especially small non-electronic items.

A big question is about radios... are they covered or not ?

And the real trick is to go to the actual source of many of these items.  I know nothing about HK's own pricing for dealers, so that may be another option to bring the prices down further.

Alot of similar or better products are already available here in India and above all some are available at a price cheaper than HK prices.  ;D

Still High.

I would say, Product + Airparcel + 20 % is a good deal. Coz If I get it directly, its just product + airparcel. I get all my parcels in 12 days flat, well almost.
That would cause a loss for LHS as they have to pay customs and make a living. But thats the problem with most of the LHS all over the world as most of the cheap stuff is made in china. And most prefer cheap stuff till they get intermediate.

At least Radios we can get cheap.

The cheapest available from Fly-RC priced Rs. 3200/- all = 68$ appx. of a 22.99$ Radio.

The servo found from VKSingh is cheaper than this purchase. Even ESC too.

Are RTFs in this scheme ?

Thanks.

I would say, Product + Airparcel + 20 % is a good deal.

You missed local shipping, unless you included it in the 20% margin.

Poll question is a little confusing. I almost voted "Great bargain".
It should be something like "What do you think about hobbyking products delivered to India for an extra 30% of the cost?".

Hk prices for some of the products are good but not for all.

And are they selling with out margins?
I think if some body buys from them in bulk, the prices will be certainly lower then what they are selling on their web site.

IMO if we get the HK products in the same pricing + shipping (what HK charge) + local taxes it will be nice idea.

From what I have experienced, some of the ebay products were JUST pathetic! HK brand and especially Turnigy brand has some quality control!

Hi,
Though I am new to RC hobby. And I am not aware of what all is your wish list.

But in my case I don't buy things with out comparing prices at different places, and in some of the things I found even Indian sellers are quite competitive. If you want recommendations from me, I presume my previous post is comprehensive enough.

All the Best
Akshay

[Admin Note] Unnecessary quote removed

Hi SunLikeStar,
I meant to say, that I am not going to name or recommend any stores here, But I can say I have made my mind to buy similar items from an Indian store. My list is as below.
30A BEC Brushless Speed Controller ,1800mAh 3S 20C ,Brushless Outrunner 1200kv,EP Propeller Black (RD-1080 254x203mm). Please don't ask for store name here.
And as a consumer we have right to verify prices at different places before buying, Isn't it.

All the Best

Begging your pardon, however, what's it with this cloak and dagger stuff? If you are suggesting that stuff can be procured from other Indian/ Asian Hobby Dealers at reasonable prices, why can't you name them? It would benefit all of us. This is an open and transparent forum, you are allowed to declare/discuss candid details here - go ahead, make our day. Please!

Could any one suggest an Indian seller whom I can contact. I tried Delhi,Singapur and Secunderabad, but no response from them. If the prices are affordable, I will be able to buy directly in person. Being a beginner I would like to know what I am getting.

Hi,
Please refer to my previous mail which says "But in my case I don't buy things with out comparing prices at different places, and in some of the things I found even Indian sellers are quite competitive".

I suppose my this sentence is explanatory enough, this simply means, I want to confirm prices before buying at different places, being new in this hobby I want to be sure. And being a consumer this my right.

I have mentioned clearly in this sentence that "in some of the things I found even Indian sellers are quite competitive" this means it makes sense to buy some of the items from Indian dealers.

I do not argue, this is a open minded forum. But this doesn't mean I have to say things which I don't want to say.

Hi Vincent,

Please refer to this link for detailed list of indian dealers:

This is what i have understood, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Suppose i buy two Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipo, that will be
Sub Total: $23.92US
Shipping: $9.99US
Total: $33.91US
i.e INR: 1526 Rs.
30%: 458 Rs.
Final total: 1984 Rs.
Hence for me cost of one Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipo will be 992 Rs.

Is that EMS shipping ? It is pretty much double the price of Airmail/Airparcel.

No thats normal Airmail.

The reason I opted for EMS shipping is faster delivery times. We can get the items into India within 5 working days. Since Customs hassles are negated, I thought EMS was the best option.
Under normal circumstances, it is mandatory for all EMS shipments to be cleared through customs, however, not in this hypothetical case, where a "well connected" person will take the responsibility of bypassing all bureaucracy!

LHS are fast catching  up with the TCO ordering form HC.
the 30% customs are usually not charged all the times, unless you ship through EMS or outwardly huge package. Mostly is around 20-22%.

LHS should be supported for long term development/progress of hobby, Ultimately they are the people how support not only new enterants but seasoned flyers at the time of need.

I prefer to buy from LHSs where ever possible, when ever there's availability and prices are not double from online stores. It certainly makes sense to buy from them, for faster deliveries and tension free transaction, after all they are always present if any thing goes wrong.

yes Ujjwaana, LHSs are becoming more and more competitive now, One because their volumes are increasing, and two consumers are getting more knowledgeable about availability and pricing RC products.

Exactly, I got my two 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipos from VKSingh for 950 Rs. each, shipping only 85 Rs. and delivered in three days. This guy really knows how to do business, almost every one on our flying field knows him. And the best thing is his prices keep coming down constantly, I think I brought the same battery from him a few months earlier for 990 Rs.
