Title: Purchase Experience - Locally
Post by: PankajC on April 27, 2012, 12:25:31 AM
Guys,

Just wanted to share some purchasing experience from an Indian company.

On 9th Apr 12, had ordered some small items like prop adapter and CF rods from RCBAZAAR. After a very long time, I was trying out local shops rather than hitting HK or the guy next door RCELECTRO aka V. K. Singh (which reminds me - he had delivered last purchased and forgotten to take money; must call him up tomorrow morning).

Anyway, back to rcbazaar. Maybe I missed, but I think I did not find an option for paying up the shipping cost while ordering. So the next day I received a call, stating that I needed to pay up the shipping. Then they sent me a link to do the needful.

SO FAR SO GOOD.

Except that about a day was wasted, so the first impression was that one thing that they need to work out is to try and work out the shipping options while ordering.

NO PROBLEMS SO FAR.

On 11th, I received a mail from Dilip that the parcel had been shipped along with a tracking number and I was like....
Hmmm.. THESE GUYS ARE GOOD.

Then I forgot about the shipment as I was travelling.

Suddenly on the 23rd I remembered - HEY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SHIPMENT FROM RCBAZAAR???

I wrote a mail to RCB and promptly got a reply from Dilip, that I should enquire from DTDC offices in Delhi and that they would too. I was like WHY THE HELL DID I NOT THINK OF TRACKING THE CONSIGNMENT ONLINE MYSELF BEFORE CONTACTING RCB???? (Note to self, give a kick on the read end).

So then check the DTDC site. It showed DELIVERED and that too at MANESAR (which is about 80 km from my house). So I wrote back to RCB that they should check the address where the packed has been dispatch.
Next I called up DTDC apex office in Delhi. The guy cooly looked at the tracking sheet and said that since the material had been delivered, they have closed the transaction. In case O require receipt, then I should write a mail to them seeking the the receipt.

I PROMPTLY SHOT OFF THE MAIL AT THE GIVEN EMAIL ID. This was 23rd.

On 24th I got a call from RCB, that every thing was done properly and that they have enquired, but also that I should try the DTDC trans Yamuna branch. They gave me a number.THAT WAS THE BRANCH MGR OF TRANS YAMUNA BRANCH.

Called him up - NO REPLY

OK, So next step. SEND IN A EMAIL ASKING FOR DELIVERY RECEIPT.

NO REPLY.

Today Called up the Br Mgr again. HE ANSWERED (Thank GOD).  He said that I should contact the land line number of the branch.
I CALLED UP BRANCH - THEY SAID, I SHOULD CONTACT Branch Mgr

SOME ONE IS Joking

CALLED UP Br Mgr again. HE listened to my problem and said to call back in half hour.
HAVE BEEN CALLING HIM UP SINCE THEY, BUT NO RESPONSE.

All the while RCB has been calling to enquire about what I should Do.

SITUATION TILL NOW,
Have writtend to their HQ, NO RESPONSE.

OVERALL
Never had problems from any of the parcels from HongKong, baring once, never ordered via EMS and all of them arrived safe and sound.

BUT NO FAULT OF THE LHS - just the courier letting them down. Its the DTDC that needs a good spanking....

Pankaj

That is how DTDC works my dear friend. I had a similar experience where in the parcel tracking showed at "returned" when actually it wasn't. I stopped using DTDC after i received 2 broken parcels and 2 parcels which they asked me to collect from their office rather than delivering to my address.

You can ask RCB to put pressure at their DTDC center.

Panjkaj Strongly agree with you, and they totally forget that for what they are getting salary...........

Calling and email is totally waste of time .............. they dont bother

Now DTDC is just a name............with no service.........and even I think our Indian Post is doing better job

thanks Pankaj for this note.. this is one of the main reasons that we don't deal with DTDC as our courier partner (FYI, we have been calling them for months now for a meet and till now no one seems to bother, maybe we are too small for their business)... our experience with Aramex and TNT has been better hence we have tied with them and we can hold them accountable for our shipment as we have an post paid account with them.. however with DTDC we have to pay then and then ship the package hence no accountability, however we will try to talk to them from here and try to push some sense...

also the reason for you not getting the shipping cost is the CF tubes require special packaging (you might realize this once you get the package) hence we pack this first according to your order and request the courier guys for the cost which is passed to you hence a day takes up on this process...

regarding hobbyking they ship it through HK post / EMS etc... their postal service is more flexible and accountable and reliable. and its not that HK packages arrive on time and always in pristine condition and we have seen on this forum itself where the package has arrived in pieces and HK takes a month to revert on these...  Not getting into any debates and getting back to the subject, whenever we get the package to our local post office we have been made to run from pillar to post and to other branches and we get answers like "we dont ship electronics goods"...  "this package does not fit into our gunny bag so we cannot ship this".... frankly there is already too much of grief in this world than running around and getting to hear these nonsense hence we don't then to rely on the local post (and i hope that some day we will be on the likes of royal post or USPS or HK post etc)

having said the above we will try our best to get this tracked and delivered if not we will try to replace this for you at our cost

regards
Sujju

DTDC is not only costly but worst too. 2 experience:

I prefer TrackOn as till now its very low cost and delivering promptly. I suggest LHS should try them.

the exp of trackon:

1. I sent a radio to my friend in Nagpur and it cost be just Rs. 120 (around 2.5 kg )
2. I sent some package around 800gms to delhi and it cost just Rs. 75 (similar package form DTDC cost me Rs. 180 before )

my local office couriers gets delivered for Rs. 10 within mumbai, while no otehr takes less than rs. 15-20

Normally when I purchase from RCBazaar, they ship it by Aramex. They are really good. Unfortunately, my last shipment was sent by DTDC and it was a disaster. An email to RCB (Dilip) resulted in the money for the damaged goods being credited to my account - no questions asked. But my point is why use DTDC when everyone knows they suck.
Ordered some stuff from Aero Engineering last week and they sent the stuff by... you guessed it...DTDC and my tracking number says "Delivered". I have no idea where! Still trying to track the package down.

@pradeepdasgupta I hope you got our products in good condition
we ship via DTDC and Aramex
we found some trouble in the agent location with both the couriers
3 out of 100 packages will either be lost or delivered in damaged condition

@sujju sir  {:)}

having said the above we will try our best to get this tracked and delivered if not we will try to replace this for you at our cost

regards
Sujju

as sujju sir said we will always replace you at our cost

hence to conclude
hobbyist buying from local hobby shop don't need to worry if your parcel lost or damaged
just call up your LHS and inform them we will take care and solve your issues As soon as possible  :)

... Sorry missed out on this one - I guess I have exhausted my quota of 3 bad deliveries for the time being because I have had 3 bad experiences in April already...and all of them with DTDC. Does that say something?

Vasu, not all LHS. Some have clearly mentioned in their shipping terms that they will not be responsible for any damage in transit

@raja
most of the prominent LHS AFAIK provide support and replacement
may be some LHS may not ...... :headscratch:
buyers should also have a look on that too while buying a product
