Title: Robu.in buyers beware
Post by: abhayf14 on February 25, 2017, 08:53:56 AM
Hello everyone,

I just got my 3s 1000mah graphene lipo which i bought from robu.in
Opened the box (the packing was nice) but was disappointed to see old lipo box from hobbyking which was already open
I dont know how many times it was opened and repacked in the past

The opening of box is overlapped with many tap (see pic)

The lipo shows sign of wear on the stickers, warranty bar code, hologram

Lastly i recharged this lipo and it only holds capacity upto 800mah
(I have good quality charger from horizon hobby)

As you may know this new graphene lipo can hold its original capacity for longer cycles
Upto 90% after 600-700 cycles
800mah capacity after discharge upto 3.6 each cell is only 80% of mentioned capacity
Which clearly means it has already passed 600 cycles

Why should I pay for such a highly used up thing, It costs me  :Rs:1850

when you charge your lipo from 3.3v to 4.2v it should show specified capacity or more

I agree that we can get a clue from the physical wear and tear of a battery to judge if it is already used or not. But not sure if we can rely on the charge capacity for the same. It is not a new practice in the battery industry to "over number" the specs. If we know that an exact new battery "usually" charges from x Volt to y Volt in z minutes and charges to a known mAh from past experience, of course we can confirm.

@abhayf14,
Gave it a lot of thought, but couldn't understand how you got the capacity figure of 800mah.

As far as I know,
If it reaches 4.2v, it is charged to 100% (of whatever its capacity is)
If it didn't reach 4.2v, it didn't accept full charge (of whatever its capacity is)
But this doesn't tell me the capacity.

On re-reading your post it seems the lipo took 800mah to go from 3.6v to 4.2v?
Is this what you meant?
Or did it fail to reach 4.2v?
Regards

Hi,
I dicharged the Lipo completely again upto 3.3 v per cell
This is what most of do when we fly
Now if you connect it to your charger starts charging, the charger is programmed to charge it upto 4.2v per cell
After this charging stops         ....  charging completes

If you see the charger it counts no. of mah pumped into the pack

Now being a brand new Lipo of capacity 1000mah should receive something near to that say 1050 mah or anything

If you keep using you Lipo after some cycles of use the capacity of it reduces this is why we get less flight time out of old lipos

So the mah counted by the charger during charging from 3.3 to 4.2 decreases
My observations is same for all the Lipos I owned in my life

Ohhk,

I just saw this post and looked into the records, you bought Turnigy Graphene 1300mAh 3S 65C LiPo Pack on 2nd December 2016, and complaint exactly same thing that battery is only charging for 800mAh. We found nothing wrong in the battery. But even then we refunded you the money.

After that you again bought Turnigy Graphene 1000mAh 3S 65C Lipo on 20th feb 2017, and you again said the same thing...

We tried to explain you multiple times. 1000mAh current that battery hold is the maximum current(from dead battery to fully charged). If lipo charge hold is reduced then you can not charge upto 4.2V...

Anyways, we have no intention to cheat our customers or give used products (even used product you sent us back ,we had to use it internally).

I just wrote this post to answer your question "Why should I pay for such a highly used up thing, It costs me  :Rs:1850"...
A: NO, you need not pay anything to us if you are not satisfied. And you already knew this while writing this post as this was not your first time.

Hello, I think the title of this post should be changed, as it is spreading false information about Robu. I have bought from them multiple times, did not have a single complaint. Service is awesome, specially they stock some items which are hard to find.

I have dealt a fair bit with Jayesh of Robu, and honestly, have never had a problem

Now if he would stock some 2S LiFe.......

I am not pulling my punches like iyer sir did, this is a Bullshit thread and your allegations are baseless to say the least, for following reasons:-

1. Hobbyking graphene are not some great batteries you talk home about, production scatter on these (or any Chinese batteries for that matter) is huge, which means if you get a good battery you are lucky, if you get a bad one, that's not unexpected.

2. LHS (like Robu) doesn't have time to pick your battery (Esp when you once complained and got refund for it) use it and sell it to you.

3. Your argument of box being used and all is bullshit. If you buy a lot of batteries you will see some old packs, doesn't mean battries in them is bad or vice versa

4. All your life? how old are you? just for our knowledge

Try buying LiPo in India from abroad or from HK, if LHS gets you stuff in India you should be thankful buddy, accept production scatter once in a while as they are not the manufacturers of the battery. By such post and thread you are demotivating LHS.

Enough has been written about it in this thread

http://www.rcindia.org/rc-outlets-and-resellers/arm-twisting-lhs/

PS
While you may have a point, allegation of unethical practice by Robu is unfounded, uncalled for, preposterous concocted with probably vested interest.

BE ADVISED Robu can take you to court for maligning his name

PPS
I dont think I have bought anything from robu yet, neither i work for him or have any truck with them, except that he is a fellow Indian trying to do honest business and is doing good for the hobby. I have no vested interest in defending them

IMHO the ideal size for a LiFe Rx pack is 1100 to 1400 mah max.
