Title: Rotor in Chennai
Post by: anwar on July 01, 2009, 09:01:08 PM
Seems like Rotor (http://www.rotor.co.in) in Chennai is one of the best stocked hobby shops around.  Due to their Singapore connections, they are able to source items not in stock very quickly, and the prices also seem to be pretty good.  They also seem to be primary vendor for Align range of helicopters, which probably is the world's most popular RC heli brand (over a million Align Trex 450s sold !).

Mail4ajo, can you talk to Arvind at Rotor about offering some sort of discount to RC India members ?  Since you are already meeting him periodically, I thought it would be better than me making cold calls !

Yes Anwar, I will give it a shot. I will also request him to participate on the forum, if possible to help newcomers.

I mostly check Aravind's price and availability before I order most stuff. The prices are nearly identical to Singapore which makes it good. Very good stock for Helis (Aravind's personal love)
He has some cool petrol models too. He has some major plans for RC. Will leave it to him to disclose.

He is building an inventory for car stuff also, which excites me. I am waiting for the day when you can just pick up spares from a hobby shop like in the US.

Mail4ajo - You should mention that this forum is a great sales platform  :P

Sai knows it very well  ;D I mean that in a very positive way; as long as you are willing to offer good prices and quality service, almost anything becomes a good sales platform !

What glow stuff are you looking for ?  May be other sellers here have the stuff and can offer you good prices.

Hi Anwar,

I am also a regular with Rotor, Chennai..  But regarding a discount, I dont know how possible that would be.. In fact, I was not able to beat his price though I tried in Singapore and Malaysia for my gasser servos!! But no harm in trying.. I also heard he might have a sale coming up soon!!

As a buyer I have noticed that they don't always have the best prices. Don't forget to add the tax they add on extra.

Nobody's perfect ;D  Hopefully we will have a deal that will make things a bit more affordable to all buyers.

Does my thanx to them hurt u? Its becoz of their fast delivery and good service and I'm grateful to them.Where is the freedom if I cant say a thing that doesnt hurt one.

Two things...

ONE :

If you want to thank them, then put it in proper words.  If you had posted what you just posted now ("fast delivery and good service"), probably the question would not have arised.  Probably a little more details on what the "good service" was, beyond what is expected of any shop.  Since you did not mention anything, people asked clarification.  Comprende ?

You have the freedom to say what you want, just as others have the freedom to ask "why exactly did you say what you just said". It is that simple.

TWO :

Since you have not read what I have posted... I am only referring to this... "Put a meaningful topic name on every thread".

http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/how-to-make-a-new-post-on-this-forum/

I am sure you are smart enough to imagine this forum being full of threads with title with "thanX" and "need help" (instead of "Superb service at Rotor Chennai" or "Need help with quad PID tuning", just as a sample)

Let me repeat... put meaningful topic names, so that the audience can see what the thread is about.  We all learnt the importance of using proper titles to our school essays in what class 2 or class 3 ? EXACTLY THE SAME THING !

Hi Folks,

I am bumping this topic up for a special reason.  I am back to aeromodelling with a bang after a very dis-joint flying period ever since I started off with my MBA.  Now I am proud to declare that I have joined Rotor Sports and Hobbies as the Operations Head and would be looking after the complete store operations and activities.  Promising myself to return to regular weekend flying also :-).  Looking forward to getting back in touch with all of you.

You can contact me at chan@rotor.co.in and I am replacing Aravind as the primary point of contact.

I am getting a list ready for re-stocking and would be entertaining any special requests and am also looking at newer tie-ups and the new Rotor product line-up would be bigger and better than ever before.

Thanks for all your guidance and support through all the years.  I am back where I belong :-)

Thanks,
Chan

If you can stock all raptor n align stuff it will be great. Especially align servos. They are value for money.

I have always associated ROTOR with quality stuff, no clones i mean. Good to see ur stocking cool power fuel.
Also, rcd is stocking align so ur prices need to be competitive.

Hi Chan,

Would appreciate if you can increase the stock of basic stuffs like brushless motors, ESCs, servos, multirotor parts etc with reasonable price tags. That will help beginners like us to have more choices. For example, in the website I found there are only 2 brushless motors and 2 ESCs.
Just my thoughts. :)
