‘Represent India’ ?
How?
Who authorised?
Your four legged design would make us a laughing stock.
Please do not represent India.
Post what you like, but,
Be careful before you claim to represent India, okay?

You guys are not representing India, rather representing your own college at an international competition. Which not only yours but 20-25 other colleges also do.

That was our prototype design. And as far as representing india is the matter you can check that only 4 teams are competing from india in SAE Aerodesign West Advanced Class due to its high complexity! I think that you should encourage a team like ours because we have started from scratch and built our own design with composites that very few teams does including international teams, rather than discouraging!
And please don't take tension of being a laughing stock, we have already been there and kept our country's flag high.

Don't wake a Tiger until you've factored the teeth

A steerable tail wheel looks like this:

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/tail-wheel-assembly.html

If you want to make your own, to suit a 10 Kg model, substitute the plastic plate with aluminium sheet 3 mm, fit steel collars on the hole where the wire will pass through, and use 3 mm spring steel wire. Best is to get the wire bent to shape by a spring manufacturer in your area, and then heat treated

Don't do it yourself preferably. Heat treatment of spring steel involves a controlled rate of heating and cooling to precise temperatures at precise rates

Heat treatment temperatures, including rate of heating, cooling and soaking times etc. will vary due to factors such
as the shape and size of each component. Other considerations during the heat treatment process include the type
of furnace, quenching medium and work piece transfer facilities

You can read about it here too:  https://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/aircraft-building/building-your-aircraft/while-youre-building/building-articles/landing-gear-wheels-and-brakes/spring-steel-landing-gears

Keep calm and fly safe.

piyush ji...
i hope you make a design before you claim to represent india...
i know college friends (who have now dropped this hobby coz of job etc) who have made better designs that that one... in fact youll find many on rci better than that...
also go for fiberglass models .... i suppose since you are a team with resources and experience you should by now be capable of molding fiberglass to get what you want instead of the typical ribbed wing design monokoated...

make the viewer feel the josh on seeing your model ...encourage people to donate by showing a hot looking futuristic design...
sorry but i cant feel it!
all the best

Dear Mr. Piyushi,

Mr. KK Iyer is a senior fellow in RCI. His comments are highly appreciable. Please don't take in negative way. When you are saying "representing India" your design should attract professional RC designers in the first glance. The Image you posted in your web is too basic and not even finished properly. Even my first SPAD model I did 12 years ago looks nearly professional. I can do a better composite fixed wing model which may compete with commercial models now. Owing to my work, I could not concentrate much.

Present your attractive design and get help from our RCI members. I'm somewhat good with composite models. Any help please share your query.

Regards,
Samayaraj
