Title: Hello I am Satya from Navi Mumbai, New Panvel
Post by: satyagupta on March 21, 2012, 05:28:50 PM
Hey All,

Though i had registered to this forum long before and was using it too, but never came across this thread. So here i am introducing my self.
So i am Satya Gupta from Navi Mumbai, New Panvel. Web Developer by profession but have interest in electronics as well :)

Have very keen interest in RC, specially in cars. Ever since i was a kid i used to buy one and open to check how the heck it works without any connection  :headscratch: Many of us would have thought same in those age. Lately i came across a video in youtube describing quads and how to build it etc etc. So thought to make a same, found a very good tutorial to make one, got boards ( Arduino, gyro, accelro and shields). But then i was time to buy the motors, esc and other such stuffs. I tried to search a lot ( from google not from RCI forums my biggest mistake  >:( ) but i could not find any Indian online store selling RC stuffs. Hence i bought from HK. Total of $147 8-) i never knew that i would get stucked in customs :banghead: and when i came to know that it had stucked it was like nightmare for me. I was not having any clue about what and how to do next step. But many RCI fellow members helped me Dharmesh, D$N, Raja_mastana and others too, all said to wait and watch. But i knew that i had lost it, but i got my parcel from Customs with ease ;D. How i will tell you.

So one fine Sunday i decided that as there is no illegal stuff that i have purchased, i have to see why they are holding it up. I called them one guy took my number and said he will call me, next day got a call from him saying "These guys say box contains HELICOPTER hence its on hold you come with documents and get it settled". Next day i went to customs, i had to wait for around 20-30 mins till it was my number, my heart was pumping like anything, i was thinking how these guys will be what all things they will ask blah blah. I went to the inspector there was my parcel, they opened it and started asking whats this and that. While talking with them i got to know one thing "Now 2.4Ghz tx and rx are not banned" they opened the Tx and Rx one guy said "Sir yeh toh ban hain" and he started to pack it but then inspector said wait let me check and then he told me about this "2.4Ghz are no longer banned" He asked me few questions about Propellor and he released my parcel  (:|~ (:|~ (:|~ (:|~ yea it was all 10-15mins thing and i came out with huge huge smile :) i was so happy but i had to pay custom (3k) but it was under rules to i was ok with it.

So got my parcel started working on my quad, i am making everything from scratch.

Frame using aluminium rods for arms and 5 mm plywood (thinking to replace them with acrylic plates, weight reduction) x 2 for plates.
Quad controller will be made using Arduino Uno, Gyro ( ITG 3200) and accelro (BMA180).
Used Arduino protosheild v0.4 to hold them together.

4 x EMAX 2822 BLDC
4 x 9x5 motors
4 x 20amp ESC
4000mah 11.1 3s 20c LiPo

Will soon post pictures of my quad :)
