Welcome to RC India :)

Please do post a bit more detail about how you use plastic for building models. It is not an easy material to shape, right ?

Anam, the F 16 is completely hand (brush) painted by me. Yes, these models have to be well detailed. Thanks.

It seems that most people on this forum are not too aware of the charms of Plastic kit modelling. Not unlikely, since this is primarily a RC forum and the topic being discussed deals with Static Display Models. With more people like Manoj joining in, I'm sure there will be more awareness.

There have been some other (male/female/androgynous) members who have tried to dupe the forum by trying to pass off Plastic Kits as being "scratchbuilt out of paper and cardboard".

Plastic kit modelling is an art by itself. The models are exact replicas of the real things in terms of detailing. Though the parts arrive pre cut and shaped / formed in the box, it is upto the modellers expertise to produce a life like finished model. (There is, thus, no question of "how to shape plastic according to ones desires" involved). A lot of pain has to be taken to eliminate the joint lines and produce an authentic paint job. Paint jobs can be 'mint' or 'weathered', the latter being more difficult to achieve.

I've been modelling plastic kits since 1977 and have more than 150 finished models in my collection.

Since this is Manoj's thread, it wouldn't be proper on my part to post any more photographs of my models here, unless he wants me to.

I am attaching a few pictures of an unmade kit - Academy 1:48 scale MiG 29 so that forum members can get a glimpse of what a 'kit' looks like.

Over to you Manoj!

No one did a proper intro for what "kit modeling" is !  For the rest of us, there needs to be education :)

Hey, I just remembered when I was 7 or 8 years old I got one of these, gifted to me by my sister who used to live in the US at that time. As far as I can remember, It was an F-22 Raptor, it also came with the spray paint and other accessories. I had taken great pleasure in watching the assembly, which was done by my Uncle. Ummm.....  But I can't quite remember where I've kept it, will surely start a massive search operation for that.
