HobbyDon is emerging, beaware.

For a few days i have been hanging out with Aeromodellers for helping me complete the Building of my Glow Trainer plane.i had like to share the experiences with you'll.
First, i met Chintan who was an Aeromodeller based in Surat.I thank him for his Help but i felt it could have benn much better as he charged me Rs.1500 just to instruct without even touching the model. He was always in a hurry, for charging me Rs.1500 just for Instructing me wasn't worth. Because i believe that the people in this Hobby are unfortunately few and those who are willing to enter and are "Budget Tight" wont stand a place because an Aeromodeller like him are making a Biz out of it.
If he helped to even build a bit of the plane, i would have been very happy but he had its boots on and would only guide me from above the steps to make.He dint even spent 20-30 mins. although i would come from Vapi that is almost 1 and half hour drive.Secondly i needed some Field items like Fuel pump, Propellers, Fuel etc which i bought from him, he charged me Rs.2500 which was not worth because most of them were Used and they initially were of Rs.1000-1500.

Then, u came to know about Taitilbhai who is a very Enthusiastic Aeromodeller based in Bardoli(it's on the outskirts of Surat). He helped me complete the Servo part and more making i Successfully Complete now. I really thank him from the Bottom of my Heart for helping me complete it. He is a very friendly guy,he really had a passion of this Hobby and he dint want to make a Biz. out of it.He spent his precious time(about3-5 hrs) helping me complete the model. He did it very enthusiastically. I wished i had better contact him before going to Mr.Chintan.He provided almost all the accessories to complete the building but dint charge me for any.He is a true Aeromodeller. He will now teach me with the Flying part for which Mr.Chintan was charging Rs.5500 and i can imagine how much could i have learned from him Giggle

These days i had really awesome experiences meeting with the Aeromodellers, Roaming in Surat and more. I thank My driver,Chetan for helping me assemble the Parts and fixing them without whom it was not possible Bow, i specially thank Taitilbhai for helping me successfully complete the model enthusiastically and in a friendly way Salute   Hats Off.I also thank Mr.Chintan.

I will post the Pics of my Venus Trainer plane day after tomorrow.Surely. I am 14 and and i may have made some mistakes in it. I request to guide me throughout.

Thnx for reading,
Kaushal Kakaria.

Dear Kaushal,

This is indeed a hard hobby and your experience will largely be determined by the type of mentors/people you'll come across. There are people who say that one shouldn't charge and should share the knowledge freely while there's another group who feel that something should be charged as this is not a cheap hobby and to master it, one must have invested a great deal of time and money in the process. I supported the former argument, until now. Let me be very honest. Since I have dived into this hobby, I have taught quite a few the tricks of the trade and have even gone out of my way to teach them without charging a single penny. What I have found in the process is that "free" doesn't hold any value. Most of the people take you and your time for granted and very few actually feel gratitude from within. It has pained me a lot. Don't get me wrong. I'm not in favor of people who fleece you in the name of this hobby. However, I feel it is also not right to expect to learn for free.

My stand has changed now because I'm in a point of my life where I'll be converting my passion into business and I'll have to charge for what I'll be sharing. Not because I see this as an opportunity to make money but because I love this hobby and I need a source of income. This however doesn't make me a businessman. Those who are passionate and can't afford, I'll still go out of my way to share myself.

Sorry if this post appears side-tracked or irrelevant but I felt like opening myself after reading your post.

@vishalrao you are surely right from your side and i neither expect anyone nor want anyone to teach for free.
Its's because if you are charging some money then it should be worth of the efforts you are putting in, the guy dint even touched the model and would just show what to do, i mean he dint even sit beside to show me.He only spent 15-20 mins or less.
