hi guys so the time has come tomorrow morning i leave for manipal and shall be back in december after the first semester. i am not going to be carrying my aircraft there for the first semester, once i make some friends there i shall slowly start to bringing them in. i am taking with me my futaba 6exap transmitter for simulator use on aerofly deluxe so that i can still keep practising. the college is providing us with laptops once i get the it i shall log back in here to just have a look once in a while at whats going on .

now for some updates on the projects i undertook the past month

Fanwing - the cross flow fan is complete but is very weak and after deliberation with pradeep sir we finalised on some ideas to rectify the design but having too many things to do at hand fanwing was just lost in the breeze. i plan to work on the design and model when i am back again in december. the one thing that the project taught me was not to rush things and so i shall try to work on it in december and build this aircraft slowly but precisely. sorry vishvesh bhaiya  :)

V22 osprey - i consider that i made some sinificant progress here by testing out atleast one prototype even thought it did not fly but the prototype was functional but not airworthy due to the massive vibrations.

Quadcopter - again i made two prototypes about three to four different frame variations and the second prototype is just about finished  only problem that remains is that not all motors spool up evenly unfortunately i had no time left to rectify it so hoping to get this one up in the air in december too.

Yak55 - Success. after the final plywood reinforcements the plane is just perfect and flies really good.

for now those were all i could remember if you need anymore info please ask i shall be happy to share them with you once i reach manipal.

the past week i was just sorting out my room and hung up some of my planes on the my rooms walls and it looks great.

attached are some pictures of the same

Subbu

Ps - i have saturdays and sundays off in manipal so if any fliers nearby, would love to meet up. Vishvesh bhaiya does your offer still stand  ;) :) also planning to visit Sanjeev uncle from RCDhamaka on one of such weekends.

all the best Subbu
do well, that is more important, one whole life ahead of you to persue your hobbies and dreams. God Bless

PS
all motor spooling up unevenly could be ESC programming, no ?

hi sir,
this is Nikhil from Delhi

i would really appreciate help in making an CV-22 Osprey ???

basic specs of my material
6ch tx and rx
2x  1100Kv 1.2kg thrust bldc motors
7060 and 7035 props
a small servo
25 amps esc
35c 3cell lipo batt

if you could just help in the basic proportions that the plane should be in

also i do not have a gyro and a flight controller

would it work  without these?

and can it do a basic hover without a aerodynamic wing?

hi guys how have these past few months been in he world of RC.
i came back last week from manipal the first semester was great and i got a really nice gpa (9.52 ) as well.
so this last week was basically me repairing the easyfly 1.9m glider and my skufun jet and ordering more stuff for my quadcopter.
today I had the first few flights in 3 months I guess. had 6 flights 4 on the skyfun jet and 2 long sorties on the easyfly used up a total of 4 battery packs and it felt really good.
saurabh bhaiya were there too he just blew me away with his waypoint navigation on his dead cat quad setup with arducopter setup.

also amar bhaiya flew his multiplex blizzard it was awesome too. oh and we were also joined by anand bhaiya.

MIT manipal is a great place, only thing is that there isn't much space to fly large models in the campus i can easily fly parkjets and multirotor aircraft so planning to build my quad there this time.

i bought the Turnigy Talon V2 quad frame and 4 dt750 motors to get a solid quad platform going with the previous kk2 LCD board itself. planning to go for the multistar speed controllers, have not yet decided on it.

the easystar will unfortunately stay in box until may as I am still buying electronics for its fpv setup. going for the dragonlink system on the tx and fy31AP with hornet OSD as saurabh bhaiya suggested also for camera I am going with gopro hero 3. I am in the process of ordering them all now and as planned earlier I wanted to put the electronics in before I closed the fuselage halves so the star rest's in its box for another semester.

I am leaving on 3rd Jan this time as I shall be building my quad there I shall post my progress as it happens.for now just having fun with my 3 aircraft.

lots of videos taken today working on getting them uploaded soon. ooh and also lookout for saurabh bhaiya's on-board gopro video of his quad in waypoint navigation mode, unfortunately I couldn't take the video from the ground maybe next Sunday.

edit- also i guess i forgot to tell that my branch got upgraded to computer science engineering.
i am happy with cse because i really like computing and programming (i had done with java and c++ earlier recently started with php html5 sql and python which i am experimenting on with on my newly acquired domain at www.mitfiles.com (http://www.mitfiles.com) - it is basically a repository of the slides and course material that is used to teach us.) and i can still continue with my hobby of aeromodelling.  :)

Welcome back Subbu :)

If you are messing with Python, take it one step further, and try to build some simple (yet real world) web apps using Django.  That is a very much marketable skill these days, and it will look good on your resume later on. Once you have dabbled in Django, play with Pinax.

My first year of engineering at MIT Manipal is over and its feels really good. i have a long 3 month vacation this time and plan to do a lot of things. just hope that i get the time to do at least half of the things that i have in my mind.

being back home feels good(the food's definitely better) but after being at manipal for a year now it does feel a bit awkward when you have just about nothing to do.

in these vacations i plan on working on the numerous projects that i have already started but haven't reached completion.

first things first i need to finish building my easystar II now that the electronics have arrived it should happen momentarily. (pic-1 and pic-2) the fpv electronics are still awaited.

next up is my quadcopter after my previous futile attempts with construction of a frame i decided to go in for the Talon V2 frame, the frame and complete set of electronics have arrived as well. (pic-3)

then next up is fanwing which i think needs a complete make over i am planning on getting some ideas from the air curtains. along with fanwing i have a v22 osprey build and a rebuild of my 747-400.

i have recently over the past few months started tinkering around with arduino and have recently acquired the HMC5883L magnetometer and the ADXL345 accelerometer (originally for a telescope project) which i plan to experiment on board my 1.9m wingspan easyfly.

these vacations i just want to experiment with new things on my aircrafts and hopefully get into a bit of 3d as well.

one more thing dad just bought a second hand santro for me so now i guess i will be flying (hopefully) everyday now. My partner in crime is going to be anand bhaiya and i welcome anyone who would want to come and have a look, maybe give me a hand with some of the things and ofcourse to fly with us.

i do want to plan a trip to meet and fly with all the great people i have known over the past few years like sanjay sir in gurgaon and vc bhaiya and gusty bhaiya in the east and everyone in mumbai and south, lets see how that shapes up. ;D

so for now i am attaching a few pictures of what i have to work on and the aircrafts which i intend to fly tomorrow (actually only the glider for tomorrow).

my first flight tomorrow in about four months cant wait  (:|~

Subbu

anwar bhaiya - last sem i did start with python but was not able to devote much time to it these past few days i have formally started to learn it. i am referring http://learnpythonthehardway.org/ (http://learnpythonthehardway.org/)  primarily and also a book called introduction to programming in python. once i get a bit more better at it i will definitely look into django and pinax. if you have any suggestion on that front please do tell me.  :)
