This is good....from where can I get that much thick Wire?

Actually I was looking for some strut vertical column kind of Landing gears if anybody has made.

You could use cycle spokes or push rodr (stiff one )

I have cycle spokes....Cycle spokes will bend easily during landing...

I am not confident of Hand launching the model.....Moreover, I feel Takeoff and Landing add grace and completeness to overall flying... :)

Try rickshaw spokes.
Much more thicker and springier.
Not easily bendable.
Just try once. Try and make a spring  in the center for absorption.
This works on 2 kg spads. Should do fine here.

Thanks Prabal276...we don't have any rickshaw in Navi Mumbai  :banghead:

I could only see cycle spokes and motor cycle spokes....motor cycle spokes though stiff are very short.....

Got your suggestion of that spring.....In fact I have made such landing gear from Paper clip....but its not suitable for my model....

I will search for Rickshaw spokes here....

Okay. Use proper hardware to get straight and correct measurements. Are you following any plans?

bad that your city dosent have RICKSHAWS  >:(
Try to locate spring steel wire in your city.
That is also an useful alternative.
Go through the yellow page; indiamart etc.
Youll surely find.

use the spokes from an old umbrella - those are genuine spring steel .

The profile of Spokes of umbrella which I have is not round.....and they seem not that sturdy.....they are thin......or I am not feeling confident about them...

Well, yesterday went to local cycle repair shop.....asked for longest motorcycle spokes...he showed me this...they are the longest one he told.....used in Splendor....165mm long...

Dia approx. 3mm....

As I was glancing through his shop I could see a long spoke around approx. 2 Ft long...I asked what is that...he told me that is Brake Rod used in Hathgadi (Rickshaw?).....Bingo....that I thought what prabal276 was referring to....it was around the same dia. as the motor cycle spoke costing Rs. 70/piece.

But I bought the motorcycle spokes which were used ones....bought 6 pcs for Rs. 10.....

If I am not able to make the landing gears with these I'll buy the Rickshaw Brake rod...

Thanks prabal276......voice of deaf....saikat

The only drawback with these motorcycle spokes is that I will not be able to make that spring thing because of the short length...
