Hello fellow enthusiasts,

I am a newbie here who has to make a fast obstacle clearing the robot(should be omvery fast so I prefer one like a car i.e. 4 wheels) for a race. I have only built about 10 speed boats til date and I need some guidance and most definitely an idea to start with. Here is the description of it - The robot has to be under 12 inches (Lngth and Breadth). It should have autonomous working system on it. No remote controls allowed. It has to cover a distance of approximately 20 feet during the race and the position and height of the obstacle (only one obstacle will be present) is also known. I am interested in a robot which will jump over the obstacles. Why? Because there are other robots in the arena and they often cross and block our path if we choose to manoeuvre the robot around the obstacle. We can even build one like a military tanker that would go over the obstacles and the other robots. I can post pictures of the arena if it's required. I have to do it for a competition that's quite important.

Thank you. Smiley

hey Carcatrova,

Post a pic of the arena, and the exact dimensions and placement of the obstacle, then we're talking.
Your problem is an open ended statement ritenow, and there can be more than one ways to tackle it. What you are trying to achieve isn't a big deal and can be easily done with an Arduino and few peripherals, but first, let us be clear on the problem statement.

Hello shadowsfromthemist,
The video you have posted shows a very cool robot but unfortunately it isn't the one I'm in need of right now. The video robot is too slow for a race which has over a 60 participants. Also, the race is not very complicated. I'll post a picture of the arena in my next reply. Thank you.

Hello Bilal,

I realise now that my post didn't make the thing very clear. Here is a picture of the arena. From what I have seen in the past few years, the robots that are equipped with sensors are never fast enough to cross the line first. It's usually something that can use the space in between and rush through it before any competition robot can go through. I really appreciate your help. Smiley
