This is a electronic RC switch I have done for our bellowed Roopeshji as a gift. Please see the videos. The videos are 3 different ways in which you can use it without any modification. You can just allocated the channel connected to it to a two position switch, a three position switch or a potentiometer as required .

L'enfant Terrible du RCIndia

Well done! If you would like to do this commercially, let me know, I will require a few sets for my boats and will pay for all your efforts and the components. Please PM me the details if you are interested (How much will 2 sets of these cost me shipped to Guwahati?). I saw this effect in action, but didn't know that it was designed, fabricated/constructed by you. Congrats again. Thumbs Up

@ paladugu_sujith: I am very bad at documentation. So I don't have a build log for this. I had succeeded to implement it on one of our companies training Hardware, but wasn't able to make it into a product till yesterday. now it is soldered and finalised in a 3cm x 2cm pcb very neatly.

@ KALYANPRODHAN sir: I have used a micro controller called Atmega8 for implementing this, as it provides more flexibility in future modification and improving. I can just change some code and I can add any feature you want me to add on the hardware. For eg. if you want to use 1 channel to control multiple devices you can tell me to configure the code to detect multiple switch changes so the number of times you switch on and off the device on that channel of the switch would work. Right now in this hardware I can make chasser fader etc. as I have used a 7 channel Driver to control the out put.

uC works digitally. Analog circuit works on analog voltage.
The time periode (1 - 2 mSec ) is converted in voltage with an LPF and then you can make anything even chaser speed control too, using analog electronics.

Here another difficulty is weight of electronics which uC is with low and prefered in aero projects.

But while that comes in ship, the cost, robustness and simplicity factor dominates over weight and analog wins. B)

I am designing something like this, except it will be based upon an ATTiny SMD (lowest possible cost and weight) If there is interest for PCB design or build log, I will do a tutorial and perhaps sell kits too !

Completely homebrew design to keep things cheap. Guys please tell me if there you are interested.... Also, ATTiny will run Arduino bootloader (easy reprogramming) and the firmware will be open source.

You can send my a PM or email to tell me if you are interested Smiley

@pratheesh I am not sure exactly, but they should be available... Have to check in our local markets.

Also, my PCB design is in alpha stage (non-smd parts used) I will using an AtTiny44 / 84 (14 pins AVR) and 4x transistors to control 4 outputs with PWM. It can control a 12v or 5v source (selectable via jumper ; so you can control LED strips or your simple single LEDs). Unused pins are broken out so that more inputs can be used or more outputs added using an external driver board.

AtTiny is clocked internally at 8Mhz so no external oscillator used  Grin

If there is interest for the design, I could design a bigger one with more outputs, using the unused pins. The alpha design does not completely break out SPI bus , so you cannot reprogram the chip onboard. You will need to eject it from the socket and plug it into the breadboard to reprogram / reload the firmware.  Bang Head

Some work is left to be done on the PCB and after that I'll etch the prototype for testing.  Clap

In the future, might also use the ULN2003 instead of transistors but not sure where to get it in Kolkata..

Also, I heard somewhere that AtTinys are available in Delhi.

Another idea that came to me was to read more channels without using up our limited pins was by taking the PPM sum input from the receiver  Wink

I bought a couple of ATtiny uC from Lajpat Rai Market, Chandni Chowk, Delhi last year. They don't generally stock the entire range, but most of the common ones can be found. As for the packaging, I bought the DIP version, you'd have to call and confirm about the SMD version! Smiley

@jaspreet as a favour could you ask them if they stock the ATTiny 84/44. For now, the DIP part will do.

@pratheesh uln2008 you say... Okay I will search for it here in Chandni market in kolkata.

HYDRO PLANER.....

Pratheesh, sorry for the delay in review.. was tied up in some annual maintenance works of Navy projects..  now back in works.. no words to say.. for the great help as i saved lots of my time with your gadget.. i am still working for more integration like gun firing and machine gun sound generators for PT boats.. this one is also capable of driving my own active stabilization systems for my boats.. still my expiriments continued.. million thanks again..  because i like the way it works.. by connecting to a pot in TX can alter the final voltage from 0 to dim to high.. cool..Hats Off
