Title: 3DR Telemetry Radio not connecting to Mission Planner
Post by: SKSaha on December 20, 2014, 09:26:32 PM
Hi,
I have APM2.5, Mission Planner 2.0.15 and 3DR Telemetry V1. When i connect APM to MP using USB cable I am able to get a successful connection and also able to program the APM. But whenever I connect 3DR radio to the USB port after getting solid Green LED on both radios and start the MP after changing to port15 and Baud Rate 57600 (as per the Device Manager) and click on the "Load Setting" under the 3DR tab, I get error message saying "unable to open serial port. Check if radio connected properly...." Now if I click on "Connect" button then I get Red LED flashing on both Radios showing exchange of data.

When i connect the radio through the 3DR RadioConfig software and click on the "Load Setting" button, I get the data from both Local and Remote radios (and all data is as per standard instruction). This shows that my radios are alright, and my laptop is able to receive their data.

I have also uninstalled the drivers and Mission Planner and re-installed both but to no avail.

Please suggest a solution to the above.

Thanks in advance

The screenshots are of APM planner. Have you tried Mission Planner?

If you go through my post, its clear that I am referring to the problem in Mission Planner only. the screen shots also show the problem in Mission Planner.

When connected to the 3DR RadioConfig software there is no problem and the default data from both local and remote radio are displayed correctly. I am attaching that screenshot now.

The control screens (artificial horizon, altitude data, GPS data) and GPS position in the map also is not showing if connected through the radio. But if I connect APM through USB then every data of APM and GPS movement is displayed along with proper position in map

Excuse me but your screenshot clearly shows "APM Planner version 2.0.15" while "Mission Planner" is a different GCS app. You can find it @ http://ardupilot.com/downloads/?did=82 (http://ardupilot.com/downloads/?did=82) . Since you have already deduced that nothing is wrong with your radio modules changing GCS should be the next step for trouble shooting followed by a different radio module!

FYI from ardupilot "Note: You cannot connect via the radios when your APM 2.x is also connected via USB (they share the same port) so make sure you disconnect your USB cable from the flight controller before attempting a wireless connection"

Thanks SideWinder, actually I thought APM Mission Planner 2.0.15 is an advanced version of Mission Planner. So, i uninstalled it before installing the APM MP 2.0.15. I am downloading the same and will post the result.

Yes, I had disconnected the APM 2.5-USB from laptop before connecting the 3DR Telemetry to the laptop.
