It seems , that one of my servos on my mini-Titan is not working correctly.
The servos currently installed is Ace C1016 9g servo. Since i do not seem to find a replacement ( and i guess its going to be exp ) , on HobbyKing i did find a simialr servo, but by HXT: http://hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=662&Product_Name=HXT900_9g_/_1.6kg_/_.12sec_Micro_Servo

Does anybody has any experience with this ? Or would i be wasting my money on these cheap servos ?

Hitec is quite popular for this size helis. But you should be changing all 3 servos to the same type.

Yep, Hitec HS56HB and HS65MG were my choices.  Started with Align 9XP servos, which are similar to the HXT 900s.

I did find some interesting discussions about using an HXT 900 on the Mini Titan :

http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=164865

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=25

Looks like it will work OK, as long as you are fine with changing gears when there are significant crashes (so order some gears also as spares), and you are not doing aggressive flying.

As suggested by Rajesh/Rotozone, it is best to change all servos to the same type.

From what I know of helis -(very little)

If you've gone to the expense of getting a mini titan and not
a cheap clone - then go for brand name reliable servos -

for what its worth - I've used dozens of HXT900's and they've
never failed - BUT - all in aircraft applications

Thanks for your replies.
Rajesh : I am waiting for your reply. If you can get me a C1016, i would just go with that.

Now, the HXT servo is nearly 8 times cheaper, though i wouldnt go with a cheap servo that would jeoperdize my heli and learning, but then i wouldnt pay extra for just the brand name ..

Still thinking on the best option here..

We have a 15 gm Metal gear Servo which is the same dimensions as the regular 9 gms one which might be of interest to you in case you do decide to  consider alternatives to Branded ones.

This is what is suggested on the HK450 Thread on RCGroups. No more stripped gears. You can call it the metal version on HXT900. Click on "VIEW ALL REVIEWS" to read all the reviews not just the first few. Thumbs Up

Gaurav - I have crashed my Trex 450 more than 10 times since I put Hitec HS 65MG servos on it, yet the servos are fine. It is a one time, really long term investment. Any metal gear ones would be a better option.

The decision is entirely a personal choice, mostly based on your long term plans for this heli. If you are getting the simple plastic gear ones, make sure you get at least some extra gears also at the same time.

Thanks Anwar.
I will go with the Hitec Metal gear. I plan to stick to helis for a while, unless something really unfortunate dampens my spirit,
and from my earlier experiences, planning for long term is always better than saving some bucks and compromising.
Thanks you all for helping me decide.

Hi Guys,  Smiley

I had recently ordered on Hobbycity for some HXT Servos. I recieved them yesterday... I had ordered for 6 HXT12K
10 kg servos. All metal gears digital hi-torque servos. Here is the link to the product.

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2

These servos look pretty good and solid. They are a bit noisy but I guess will surely serve my purpose. I will be testing them soon and post the results...

Extremely reasonable for the price !!!  Clap

I had placed the order on Dec 24, 2009 and I got it on Jan 16, 2010. Did not have to pay any customs on this.  Giggle
I had also ordered 2 Turnigy 2cell 7.4V 2200 mah Lipo. these look just AMAZING !!! Pretty cheap...

Also had ordered a CA debonder... ALL CAME WITHOUT ANY CUSTOMS   Grin Giggle
