Title: Low voltage alarm for SLA and NiMh batteries
Post by: santhosh-r on May 16, 2013, 10:40:21 AM
Hi friends,

I am planning to make a low voltage alarm for 12V Lead acid batteries and NiMh battery packs.Low voltage alarm is only available for LiPo batteries so I have two plans to make for NiMh and SLA,

1. An adapter for Onboard low voltage alarm for 2-4S batteries to make it compatible with SLA and NiMh
2. New low voltage alarm for SLA and NiMh batteries..

I like to know the interest  :o for these two items from you guys...

You trying to alter the normal lipo low voltage alarm or making a new circuit of yourself... I think everyone changed to lipos these days...

Why do you ask that question. Are you planning to get into production of these units?

Arun - both the ways
girishsarwal - not production...

I'd second Arun, NiCd and NiMH are rarely used, even in glows; Atleast the younger flyers are much happy with LiPo/LiFes

But SLA are used everywhere right??
In the field and in the house....

Santhosh, first of all, I appreciate your effort. It's thinking out of the box and its one of those simple, useful gadgets that almost everyone would love to keep in their field boxes.

SLAs are used everywhere but an audible 'alarm' per se, I don't know. I'd prefer to have a visual indication. For LiPos I can understand, an alarm is an 'alarm'. I've atleast push-started my car 10 times with a dead battery (so you know how careless I am, perfect candidate for your stuff), and probably would do it again.

What do you intend to use btw, some zeners and voltage dividers?

circuit under testing....

voltage dividers,comparators,OP-AMPS and also zener for reference voltage
