Title: Need help installing a LRP Lipo guard + BEC on a Summit
Post by: ajit4647 on September 07, 2011, 08:49:45 PM
Hey guys.

i recently picked up a LRP Lipo guard + BEC to run Lipo's on the summit.

now in the manual it says + and - should be connected to the outermost pins. if i am using a 2S lipo the balance connector is just not big enough to reach both the outermost pins.

so am i supposed to solder extra wires to the outermost pins on the balance taps and connect those to this??

i am a little scared of soldering on to the taps.

attaching a pic of the LVC.

I suppose you have this (http://www.lrp.cc/fileadmin/lrp_anleitungen/anl_27731_ra00280-lrp-45050-e-100128fv.pdf) in your manual. The instructions are kinda weird... :headscratch:

I've asked on another forum. I'll let you know what the people over there say...

hi mate.
the way I read that...................

LiPo Pack Minus (black)
LiPo Cell #1
LiPo Cell #2 (unused for 2S)
LiPo Cell #3 (unused for 2S+3S)
LiPo Pack Plus (red)

with the pins marked as ..
not used for 2s and not used for 3s
indicates to me you plug into the 'right hand end 'black pin ' what ever battery you have.
the led should verify your right, as it will flash the number of cells or say wrong connection.

hey.

tried plugging it in with the black wire at -. so that way the final third red wire plugged in at what is supposed to be for C2

but when i switch it on it just keeps flashing fast.

and according to the manual it says check wiring :(

i thought maybe since the batteries were at peak voltage i just plugged in another set of lipos which were at approx 7.6 volts. still no use.  it keeps flashing fast.

hi mate.
the only way to do the other way is to unplug the red lead,
and plug the plug in then red to + pin
may be there is supposed to be an adapter for the 2s and 3s batts

hi mate.
found a pdf that said plug in the speed controler so this goes 'inline' with the esc plug this into throttle ch and esc into the unit . plug in the battery and slowly raise the throttle untill the right number of flashes..this tells the unit what battery is plugged in.

hi mate.
solved it ..........
you need to make up an adapter to go onto the battery.
here
(http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh268/dondecap/RTEmagicC_LiPo-Guard_MaverickStradaEjpg.jpg)

see the pic......... the two wires in one plug and the red wire in a second plug.
so get a 4s charge adapter and alter the wires to do this in two plugs.

Thanks Don. The need of an adapter did strike my mind but I let the idea go :D. Ajit, seems like you have some small soldering coming your way >:D

@ sunk? - thx for the pic. made it simpler. i made the adapter and its working perfectly now. but it was a bit stupid of them not to include clear instructions especially when they say Plug and Play.

anyway its working now and thats all that matters i guess  :)

and iamahuman - it took me almost an hour to solder connectors onto the Zippy Lipos. my hands shiver a lot. its something that happens a lot when i am handling something that requires precision. dunno why. :(

...my hands shiver a lot.
The same reason all my soldering work goes to my dad. Young hands cannot beat over 30 years of experience is soldering ;D
