Has anyone tried any technology for object Avoidance in fixed wings? I have seen videos showing pixhawk lidar systems for multirotor object Avoidance. The only thing I've seen with pixhawk lidars in auto landing fixed wings. Is it possible?

I don't think you're at the right place for something like this. You should check out DIYDrones for stuff like this. Also, I don't think there is a plug and play object avoidance system available. You should check out Project Artemis. Try contacting Kabir. It's his project. Also, object avoidance is really expensive. May I know what do you need it for.
A few years back MIT did something on this with A push broom model. I don't think it's publicly available though.

Ducted fan and long range don't go hand in hand I guess. A ducted fan system is pretty inefficient. Why do you want to build a ducted fan VTOL platform? I recommend you read the thread which Topalle bhai posted a few days back regarding airframe choice for VTOL platform.

But I saw that ducting increases thrust per amp draw

duct type motors have more thrust compared to non-duct ones but they do not have good effeciency compared to others. Ducted type are generally high kv motors so they are generally inefficient.

However if you can try to build a quad with normal motors and then design prop gaurds in a ducted manner then it may improve their thrust. This will however be nullified since prop gaurds add up weight but this is a safety feature.

Look at this. This is a good VTOL long range platform. http://mozzie.readthedocs.io/en/latest/Overview.html

Why do you want to build a long range system? Fun flying? Research? Competition?

And a Turbine IMHO is a terrible long-range system.

Nitesh.

You don't have to build the exact model. You can take design lessons and you could read that whole document to learn a lot.
