Title: BUILD TIP: Using Coins to Balance your Models
Post by: prabal276 on July 24, 2018, 08:54:10 PM
Hey,
Prabal here.
I was recently in a situation where I needed to balance a model. It was nose heavy and needed exactly 15 grams of tail weight. There were two options: either to use weights from the market (expensive) or use some Desi jugaad (stones).
Suddenly an idea came to my mind: coins
Coins must have an exact weight as they are minted by the state. Their weights are available online. Various combinations can be made for different cases.
I found this idea quite useful so decided to share it. Hope it helps others as well.
I'm attaching the weights of various coins below for reference.
Regards,
Prabal

Nice solution

How did you deduce that you needed 15 gms of weight to balance ?

Thanks saikat sir!  :)
Actually the model was handed to me by a friend! He had to use 15 gms of lead shots to balance it precisely.
That's how 15 grams  ;D

Good to see a post with data instead of just opinion.
Perhaps I could get two 5p coins for each side of nose of the 1st Chuck...

On a lighter note.

Hate to throw money in hand launch.

Nice one Dreamer
(sounds better than dreamliner  ;D)

Must try a catapult. Money may go a lot farther than if it is just thrown...

@kkiyer
Even if it is catapulted, no matter how much you invest in the nose, inflation as well as the law of Gravity will pull it down.

It's an Innovative idea for God's sake.
I am not disrespectful of my currency. I am just finding a way to put exact weights on my plane.
If I throw the currency on the ground, then come and crib here. What's the problem with flying the currency higher?
You have started again haven't you? You should have got a good dose from the recent incident.
Please don't comment unnecessarily. If you need to appreciate the idea, then comment.
As for the scrap metal, Everyone can go get scrap metal and cut them to size. However, there will be a lot of trial and error because the density of the specific piece of metal is not know. So mass will vary.
And how will poor kids know what is inside my plane? Dot hey have X-RAY vision?
Regards

Prabal, I am sorry as I am high jacking your thread.

If coins inside in plane then it is okay.

And one more thing. Nothing is accurate in this world.
Lipo is not always balanced. All balanced lipo also have difference in voltages.

Paisa bahut badi cheese hai. Paisa phenkenge to apko Lipo koi bhi balance kar dega. Apko lipo ko hath lagane ke jaroorat nahi padegi.

Naak ya poonch ka santulan banaye rakhne ke liye chchote pathar bhi prayog kiye ja sakte hain.  Paisa bhi laga sakte hain. Paise or pathar wale model mein paise wale model ki laagat adhik ayegi.  Pathar to free mein hi lag jate hain. :banghead:

@ taksh
The ONLY problem is your attitude. You just unnecessarily argue with other to prove a point that ain't valid.
You successfully managed to convert this TIP thread into another long standing arguments. I am getting a feeling that you are gonna be banned from the forum. Most of our have had enough of you and you have been given countless chances by the admins.
Just ask your father to read your posts once. See what he thinks.

@prabal276
Nice idea but it is not good because it's currency. Few poor kids in park can stole money also. So, i think it's not good to use coin as weight.
you can get inexpensive metal sheet from nearby loha mandi.
You can also make weight easily by cutting metal sheets with blade or kaenchi.
Weight machine is also necessary.

Few things to mention
1) don't fly your quad and craft above any one like in park if your craft
lost signals or due to any other circumstances it may hurt innocent children/people
2) they don't know that your craft is carrying ant indian currency or foreign currency so your quad will not be hijacked,😁
3) if any one knows that you are carrying money on your quad why he or she steal your money, it will be easy to grab aircraft and run for that person.
4)that craft is much more costly than the coins
No offence please

@prabal276
There is no need of parents to read posts.
You can ask your father to read your posts.
Okay.
You think problem is my attitude then it's your thinking.
you want me to get banned from this forum then you are wrong.

You know what you said for me?
"You will understand when you end up in the Emergency Room"  in #3(said by you prabal)
google translation : jab aap aapaatakaaleen kaksh mein samaapt hote hain to aap samajhenge

you said "unnecessarily argue with other" then words from your post(on my topic or thread) are right?
kisi ka liya hospital ki baat kar rahe ho chaloo thik ek baar lekin yeh bolne ki "hospital me khatam ho jayoga tab smujhe ayga" yeh bolna sahi hai ?
meri post galat hai aur teri sahi  >:(

End up in emergency rooms means you  will be hospitalize in emergency room and not that you will be dead in emergency room.

BTW,
A pencell is about 1 ounce.
And a dead one costs nothing

This info is USELESS, except for
1. Those who have a tail heavy RC model
2. Those who need a tipweight for a large C/L model

And utterly irrelevant to those who wonder what C/L means...
