Title: Color on elapor FunJet
Post by: anwar on April 04, 2011, 10:08:53 AM
Noticed that the red stripes provided as decals for the Multiplex FunJet does not provide enough of visibility, and was thinking about putting some broad lines on its belly.

Simple colored tape seems to be the straight forward option.  What have others done ?  Fabric paint ?  Spray paint ? If so what type of spray paint ?

Thanks Chan !

Did you fly it ?  How is the visibility with this color scheme ? Wondering if just stripes on the belly would have been better :headscratch:

What about the paint itself, is there any sweating issues (when kept in the sun etc) ?

I think the best option is to use color tape as you'll have the flexibility to change whenever you want. Also tape protects the surface from landing rashes. However I am planning to paint my next multiplex with permanent marker ink with a small brush. I have tried it on some scrap elapor with good results. The best thing about it is that it doesn't form coating on the elapor so no problem of sweating in sun or when boiling for repair. About painting scheme, use dark color on bottom and light color on top and leading edge.
