Title: Contemplating about importing EPP sheets
Post by: abheekg on January 21, 2014, 05:52:17 PM
Hello folks
I am a new member on this board and a DIY aero modeller. I am contemplating importing EPP sheets for aero model building and I want to check with all of you if you have managed to find a regular source of EPP in India and how many of you will be interested to pool in for EPP sheets.

best regards,
Dr. A Ghosh

Pleas see reply #113 in this page:
http://www.rcindia.org/rc-outlets-and-resellers/epp-foam-sheets-in-india/100/ (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-outlets-and-resellers/epp-foam-sheets-in-india/100/)

If you want to buy 2.5mm EPP sheets RCForAll has them in stock:
http://www.muav.in/?wpsc_product_category=foam-epp-and-hd-foam (http://www.muav.in/?wpsc_product_category=foam-epp-and-hd-foam)

So no need of importing EPP sheets.

Thank you for the links RCNeil21 but on checking these 2, I find that :
1) you are contemplating getting black EPP which will not suit my building needs; and
2) RCForAll has no epp in stock as visible on the website.

Thank you.

best regards,
Dr. A Ghosh

p.s : Thank you moderator for moving this topic to the correct section.

But instead of importing it i think you should wait for RCForAll to get them in stock, because importing them will be too costly sir.

But if you do manage to get them then i will buy some too. ;D

Hi Abeek - I'm sure there are factories in India
which manufacture EPP

It is widely used in the automobile industry.

A common source - free -  is car seat cores

although I have never had the urge - can some
member visit his local garage / junkyard and rip open some
seats ??

Contact some parties who manufacture car seats - I'm sure
that they can point you in the right direction.

Car seats cores are not epp. :) they are polyurethane foam.
Some of the attachable baby seats for cars are made of epp.

I am expecting some of the foam samples to arrive today. I will evaluate and get back to you all in a few days with more updates.

EPP is nothing but those foam plates that we  eat pani pooris with. should investigate parrys corner where these plates are coming from, those plates are made from thermo forming. so those people might have the sheets readily available but in 3mm thickness only.

well,

But wouldnt it be good those EPE(Extruded Poly Ethylene) i guess for our RC use, any drawbacks. im sure to get a good supply locally and cheaper too.

They are very weak, nothin like epp.
Epe cracks easily . Hd thermocol is better. But epe is used in making really small floater Rc planes.
