Customs is just not the only issue with importing Balsa - You need to get Fumigation/test done by the another nasty Govt. department, and they are really buggers, as told by customs officials themselves.
If you are ardent, getting through FedEx/DHL is the best bet as they may take all these hassle themselves. But then the shipping would be high.
Balsa is now available locally at much attractive prices. Even I myself abandoned my plans to import from LoneStar and got from RCDhamka itself.

Pankaj the Balsa, Lite Ply, Spruce etc is in stock with us. The problem we are facing is to shipping very small quantities. We had earlier got some orders for 1.6mm sheet of 3 to 5 sheets or 0.8mm 2 sheets and there is a high chance of breakage due to the delicate nature of Balsa. Even on large qty there is bound to be small amt of breakages. Thats the reason why you do see the sign sold out on all balsa sheets/strips/lite ply/spruce/leading edges/trailing edges etc.

We do take orders by mail depending on what the customers want to pick up.

@ R/c vish, pease check the screen shot, for say 20 sheets and for 100 sheets the price is not 20% of what is sold here in India once you choose the size and after you add shipping the price is much much more than what is been sold in India by different LHS, add to this the custom duties, warehousing at the customs, red tapism etc.

The problem is that alot of people do not add cost which are incurred at time of imports into the cost factor. I would say most of the LHS are now giving better prices then what you can get from HK/aboard for most of the products and this will only become better.  ;D ;D

Hope we are not offending anyone here, this is not meant to offend anyone but just an eye opener.

What are their Shipping charges, for say 20-30 sheets of 4x36 Balsa sheets ? I would love to buy from them when they are not available locally , and I know even RCD wont mind it [:D]
Do they have Hard Balsa ?

ujjwaana  Please tell me the thickness of the sheets. normally for an assortment of 20-25 sheets in different sizes it costs nearly Rs.350-550 for shipping anywhere in India.

If you require more information on that please mail the quiry on info@aeromodelsupermarket.com or call on 9414127519 or 9829491054

RCD Team,
thanks for the clarification - its quite practical. Anyway, need to find a source where I can pick up in Delhi else this problem will remain as I do not wish to purchase in bulk :(

The prices listed in the site are per sheet or for the pack ?
do you have things like light ply, balsa spars, leading and trailing edges ?

Pankaj
the prices mentioned are per pack. We do not stock plywood but, on demand we can provide spars, L.E. & T.E.
as per your demand

Hi Vivek,
So how are you guys packing. If you look at RCD's explanation a pack of 5-10 sheets is prone to breakages during transit. It would not be nice to order balsa and receive saw dust :D:D

nice price quotations form vivek sharma..... check your PM...
