"If it's man-made and it flies, it will crash."

Hi
Today i bought myself 12-13 sheets of biofoam from sitaram stationeries of various thickness - 3mm-10mm.
Well biofoam/depron is now what actually i wanted to buy, i wanted EPO but it wasn't available sadly

So, i tried cutting foam first time using a precision knife( bought from rchobbyaddict) , which was ok but bit hard to cut depron.
Using a scale,  but still cutting had many mistakes, like cutting in wrong direction in between, etc.

What are the best tips to start with aeromodelling using biofoam? What instruments are must?
Yes i have watched many videos in youtube, but i will want someone to guide me properly with this.

Thanks
Rahul

Nobody is perfect so am i :)

you only need xacto type knife which i bought from sitaram stationers and also foam from them.. i have been using the knife for all my builds and really works great...
you should also get cutting mat as it is a good addition to clean cuts..
remember to buy extra blades for knife too...

@tahmadblr its not exactly xacto orignal but there are hobby knifes available in big art supplier shops like sitaram stationers in delhi its usually used by professional artists and not sold under hobby knife search your local stores and ask them if they have knife with aluminum handle they would understand then Tongue

Maybe your blade is not sharp enough,i use the normal hobby knife i got from them and it cuts precisely on the the biofoam.

rahul its not about blade or foam its about surface while piercing through biofoam it could easily get stuck between thermocole granules so use cutting mat its the only reason Smiley
all the best

Great @nithinraj, very helpful, will go through it once again, after i decide what to make, shall I go with a flying wing ( synapse ) or nutball??
Is my 10mm and 5mm foam good for this purpose?

Don't wake a Tiger until you've factored the teeth

I was frankly surprised when I saw the title of this thread. What's the big deal in cutting Depron? I've made 5 models in this material, and never noticed anything about the cutting. Use a normal box-cutter or any hobby knife, just make sure it's sharp.

If you want the ultimate, buy a surgical scalpel with disposable blades.

I use a 20W hotglue gun which works wonders on biofoam,no melting, just pure strong joints.
