Avoid paint. Use sign vinyl

Why don't you use coloured  tapes.? Painting would add weight..

Sign vinyl is better. You are not limited by the width of a tape.

Panting does not create problems with weight. It is more a problem of adhesion.

well... the solutions are:-...
Paint.. it is a pain to get the lines straight... one has to be very careful with straight lines and curves... the drying time is too large and one feels helpless waiting for it to dry
Coloured tape... It is very light and a good way to colour your model... the flip side is that wherever there is an overlap of tape sheet the colour tends to be darker or deeper.... making coloured curves are a pain and one ends up using paint to give the effect..
Vinyl sheet.... Ideal... large sheets or pieces.... can be cut directly into the shapes required... sticks well and gives a neat and clean finish.... cost wise... slightly costlier than paint or coloured tape.
I use all three things.... it depends what amount of time I have and what is the urgency of preparing the model.... My earlier two models were covered with coloured tape and the last one is being covered with Vinyl sheet.

Happy making your model and giving it a good colour scheme....

Well dear Khan.... to buy your vinyl sheet of whatever colour you want.... go to the shop which makes vehicle numberplates from stickers and not paints them... The stickers are made of vinyl sheet... these sheets are generally 2 feet wide and you can buy nearly whatever length you want... the cost ranges from Rs 20 per sq foot to Rs 50 per sq foot... I use the one at around Rs 25 per sq foot....  Go ahead and buy your vinyl sheets... ALSO... do not paint your model black as it is not visible well enough when flying... always colour them in bright colours.... I prefer them bright yellow or red or white or orange and such colours...

Retreat, Hell!

It lasts long and adheres well to coro. The vinyl on my bike and plane still looks new after so many years!

In Thrust, I Trust

Black is the worst for orientation. Use a bright base, like white or yellow and use a bright contrasting colour (like red, blue or orange) to make patterns and stripes etc.
It is also suggestible to make different patterns at the top and bottom. This helps you figure out which side is the top of the plane while flying.
Best of Luck  Thumbs Up
