Dear friends,
I have no mood to use coro or biofoam for my models though they look inviting... Just do not like the sharp edges which they bring along with them.  Recently I made a model out of a  commercially available thermocol which is slightly denser than the regular commercial thermocol.  I cut the sheets of 1/2 in thickness for my fuselage and then cut in a sheet of 1 in thichkess for my wing (50 in in span).  Used one soft balsa spar of 6mm x 4mm on top and bottom of the wing surfaces.... Sanded the thermocol to required shape and put in a 10mm x 6mm leading edge + a 20mm x 5mm Training edge to it.  Once completed I covered it with regular paper pasted on it with thinned fevicol (50:50 ratio of fevicol and water).  Covered the parer when wet with a thin layer of the same thinned glue.  On drying I painted it with Fevicryl colours.

Well the end result was a wonderful tough thermocol wing which was quite light and stiff.... coloured well and it does fly well...

OK the cost of the entire thing...
1.   Got the 2in thick thermocol sheet from false ceiling fabricators for Rs 100.  Used it for making 1/2 in sheet for fuselage and the wing.
2.   Paper cost me Rs 5.
3.   Paint and Brush in all cost me Rs 200.
4.   Yes the tailplane and fin were made of 4 mm balsa sheet which cost me Rs 150 (half of it is still left).
5.   Now its the cost of servos Qty 04 for Rs 200 each
6.   Motor and Lipo (NTM 28 series motor and a Flightmax 2200 mAh lippo)

total cost of just the model was below Rs 400.... (cost of fevicol included)

well friends happy building your model.....

Well here goes..... I am uploading the pic of two of my models.... The yellow one in the centre has a fuselage of the thermocol I am talking of.  The yellow wing had a combilation of HD thermocol and the one I am talking of.  The white and red wing on the left is of the thermocol which is non HD.

Dear wingman bunty, this is not biofoam, if im not wrong it should be styrofoam. its used for packing batteries for safety during crash. if you have a big block of it, you can carve out a 3d profile plane and use CF rods for reinforcement.
cant say about the flight charecteristics as it would create too mch drag but light and strong and indestructable material.
take care while cutting this foam. if ingested it can cause serious breathing problems.

Well what I know of....  styrofoam is what is sold as Thermocol in India.  I find Thermocol to be one of the cheapest material to build models.  Look at my latest post thread... I am making a model out of thermocol picked up from Fridge dealers, TV dealers and Computer dealers.  Yes it all has different densities but then one has to mix and match.  This not because I lack supply of HD Thermocol or Balsa, I have sufficient to make about 25 models out of my stock and should last me a few years.  This was just to let you guys here on the blog to understand that the ones using fancy stuff are only scaring away hobby aeromodellers or making them spend far too much of their money. Wingmanbunty... look at my post http://www.rcindia.org/tools-materials-and-building-techniques/building-my-second-model-from-commercially-available-thermocol/msg186495/#msg186495 and will should be of some assistance to you.... and many others.

Here is the picture of type of thermocol I used for making the model shown in the thread.

Source of hd thermocle in Chennai is the various shops in devaraja mudalai street sowcarpet. You can also get a special type of coro which is lighter than the others and also stiffer in shah enterprise or bros(not sure whether bros. or enterprises) in devaraja mudalai street just ask for polycarbonate sheets. I saw them when I went for buying acrylic sheets there.
