Can any one tell me how to make a landing gear n nose gear from scratch materials?

What type and size of plane?

If you mean "motor mounts" by saying "nose gear", then this thread should pretty much cover it :

Hanger wire, 2 or 3 mm push rod, etc can be used as landing gear depending on the size. I am not sure what you ment by nose gear.. :)

Its a .46 size glow coro plane..Nose gear means a steerable nose gear set up..If i'm rite means its called as tractor type,not a tail dragger one..Thank u..

Got it... "steerable nose wheel".  Most scratch/SPAD plans are tail draggers, but it seems there is one well known one though.

For the nose wheel you can check with some Automobile shops if they have spring with 5 mm dia steel. Then straighten it and re bend to the required size. Its difficult to find tempered steel bars and also to work with them. Best is to check with your friends if they have a spare one from an old crash debris. Also it will be much easier to convert it to a tail dragger with small wheel steered along with the rudder.

There are two main classes (at least).

1.  By bending a flat strip of aluminium, like this :

2.  Bending thick spring wire into shape (either in a single piece OR in two distinct pieces), like Manoj is suggesting above.

I used Bamboo sticks, twine, straighten paper clips (for axis), wheels.

i have seen local Flower vendor having such sticks

225gm; Bamboo stick are available at florists, bamboo article makers in busy old business markets.

Or you can find 'bamboo skewers' packed and sold in stationary/ craft shops.

.46 model nose gears are a common item with vendors. Any reasons you are looking at fabricating them ? It will definitely cost you more to fabricate one that is the same quality as the ones you can buy.

But that is like "cheating the SPAD philosophy" ?

Maybe. But is also - often - better not to re-invent the wheel!

Landing gears are one of the weakest areas of my build. I always tend to over engineer it.

Best way to make landing gear is to make use of an automobile spring shop. They can make the landing grear according to your specification. The second easiest way is to buy something off the shelf. The third is to make it yourself and you need to be really adventerous to try this.

To make the landing gear you would need 3 - 5 mm metal rod. I have tried old bucket handles for landing gears and they work OK.. but for every hard landing you need to tinker with it. Mind that these bucket handles are not heat treated so they are soft and easy to bend. Vist your nearest kitchenware shops. You can surely find an appropriate metal rod to get you started. Further, Bangalore should be having a metal tubes/rods market... that is also a good place to visit...

If you want your homemade landing gear to be heat treated, then get it to the automobile spring shop.. they can do it dirt cheap.

Impressive information but cannot make out the outcome of visiting a automobile workshop and what do they really do

Here is the picture of my first spad that I build. This one has an aluminum channel used for the landing gear. Although the channel is not all that strong it was a pretty decent landing grear. Further, the model flew like a trainer so, there were almost no hard landings at all. Note that I have stacked up a pile of cycle tubing between the landing gear and the fuselage. This provided some level of cushioning and it worked great!

This one is from a more heavier plane. I used the spring shop to bend the gear according to my spec. The wire is heat treated and its very springy (ductile). Eventhen with the plane weighting about 3.5Kg this landing gear was a total failure. I then, doubled the gear and strengthened it and it worked great.

This is one of my earlier build. This again used the alum channel. It was holding fine till the last day I flew it.

This one has a spring wire made by automobile shop. The pic shows the assembly.

Almost all hobby shops have wheels. rcbazaar, rcdhamaka, rchobbyaddict etc.

Can I get any wheels locally or at any hardware store which can be used?

buy a toy car and use the wheels
