Re: Glued fingers with CA
When I was working abroad we were among other things the country distributors of Loctite Industrial products.
Loctite 495 is thin CA, super glue.
Once at night I got a call from the hospital - a child had managed to get some in her eye.
Besides what was written in the MSDS, I called the helpline in US. The reply is simple - continuous bathing in lukewarm water.
This is what happens: the skin absorbs some water, thus releasing the bond from the contacting surfaces.
(Oh yes, the child was fully OK after an hour of bathing the area with lukewarm water)

Re: Glued fingers with CA
no sir normally CA will not heart eye as much as we feared because CA never work in water but dry areas should affect. but can be cured by washing with water as soon as possible, a slight pain should feel but dont try to open or scratch eye or eyelids by hand.
Experience one year before.

Re: Glued fingers with CA
I got some in my eyeball once it stuck my lids with eyeball. Horrible irritation due to restriction. Within few hours released eyelids but the scabs inside was giving heavy irritation with even minutest eye movement. After a few stupid attempts to remove it and doctors visit who could not give any advice and further reference to eye specialist who was not available for few days. Better sense prevailed and after online search on it just closed shut that eye with cotton and Band aid and went to sleep for 12 hours straight with few larges. When I woke up all scabs had come off and moved to the corner of eye. Removed them but red eye remained and in next two days all irritation subsided and eye became normal. Solution prescribed was to shut that eye and leave even my attempt to release eye was not correct.

Re: Glued fingers with CA
In 2011 prior to conducting the Aero Camp at the prestigious Assam Valley School, the authorities had warned me about the use of CA. Apparently, a few years ago, an 8 year old girl had sealed her eyes tight during a craft class. She recovered, however, the school was left with a permanent terror about CA. In 2011, the girl was in Class 9 and participated in the Aero Camp and used CA with less disastrous results (her gliders refused to fly). I was told to keep a pan of hot water ready for any sticky fingers. Apparently it worked.
My fingers are perpetually crusted with CA and I usually employ 120 grade (wet and dry) emery paper for a manicure.

dip hands in lukewarm water, leave it for a while.. it will come off. Did you know CA finds use in medical industry as a wound sealer
