technique to add e-clip back to motor shaft

Does anyone have an easy method to add the e-clip/c-clip back onto the motor shaft. I spent a good deal of an hour trying to add one back on.

I use needle nose pliers to hold down the C-clip and a small flat-head screwdriver to jerk it into the shaft groove.

If it still doesn't fit, check to see if there is enough clearance for the clip to partially seat into the groove, otherwise, you night have to readjust the shaft placement by loosening the small grub screw on the hub of the rotor and gently tapping the shaft towards the clip end.

You can easily put an eclip bu the process mentioned above and heres another tip...do it in a room that does not have much of furniture. ..so in case the eclip snaps and flies of it lands on the ground...and to find it kneel down put your head against the floor close one of your eyes. .it will be easy to find...thays my preferred way of finding screws and other small items...works 99% of times... Cheesy

Get a large clear plastic bag 8 litre size and place the motor, parts, tools and your hands in it. if the e clip flies it's still in the bag.

Or, use this if you can find one locally.

Thanks for the replies. I guess the problem in my case was that the motor was stuck to the motor mount, I think because of my liberal use of threadlock. So trying to fit in pliers was not possible. So I finally placed the e-clip back after a few attempts by holding the e-clip with a pair of forceps and using a flat head screwdriver to push it into the groove.

@girishsarwal: That is exactly how I find fallen screws/nuts/washers since I was a kid.

Same here I think all techies think alike..!!!! but now after i have glasses the edge of the glasses restricts to be so close to floor Roll Eyes

....

so for iron things i use a good magnet when i work usually it gets on the magnet or if it falls on floor i use the magnet like hunting for metal via metal detector..

But the plastic bag trick is good.
