i know the answer will be obvious(in musical shop!) but where can one find the musical wire/guitar wire.? i ve searched  some musical shops but they say its sold in electrical shops . Electrical shops on the other hand have no idea what i am talking about and look at me in a weird way!  :headscratch:  

i ve searched most places where electrical items are sold(Ritchie street in Chennai included) but i am having no luck. either i didn't search properly or there must be some trade name used in electrical shops.? ?? if anyone knows of any place in chennai please let me know.

ps: is nichrome wire the same type.?

What exactly do you mean by a 'Musical Shop'? I don't know if Guitar wire is the same as Nichrome wire, but Guitar wire will be available at any musical instruments shop which sells guitars and other musical instruments. Eastern classical instruments like the Sitar also use such wires/strings. Just go to a shop and ask for the Guitar main string/ Sitar main string. Hope this helps.

thanks vc . i tried another shop and i got the string. i should have tried other shops instead of going by the word of a single musical instrument shop!

actually you have to go to a musical shop and ask them ,that you want to have the sring no3 of guitar as guitar wires are sold by no's(1,2,3,4,5,6) and are usually varying in there thickness/densities.so i suggest you to get no3 as no 1and 2 are very fragile and do often break easily and one more thing to be very clear that it stretches a lot when gets hot so keep some apparatus to stretch it up and retails at about rs 20-50 only 

if u want wire to cut foam, go to an electricals store and ask for nichrome coils for the old fashioned heater. Stick a thin rod through it and unwind it to whatever length you require.
