Information sharing improves knowledge of both.

pankaj,

I think you are expert in electronics and making revers engineering on ESC.
Are you specific, it should be brushed/brush-less ESC or both are welcome ?
Both are different from one another as per internal driving circuitry.

Just for curiosity Wink.

Kind of .... Wink i will try to replace the burned FET's with better ones and i hope after that the power part of esc will be more powerful  Drool as we need the gate currents of same level for switching FET's of different rating.going through the process of making of 2hp brushless system which should be reliable and cheap..... Salute Salute i will need very much support of this forum and all of you  Bow Bow. actually it is not for flying it's for riding  Clap Clap .heard that  castle controllers are good enough for task ..but those are  costly like hell  Angry Cry so trying to do some soldering and calculations . really interested to know how you are going to repair burned ESC. How to find out the part no. of FET / other components burnt out?

I have burned my 20A ESC. 2 times 'tup' 'tup' sound came with some fumes  Giggle. Still I don't know which component went off.

It will be great if show some light on ESC reparing.

Regards

most of the fets used in esc's are IRFZ44N......................
check the data sheet(google) for current and voltage ratings..

@Dileep  I am not into repairing the esc's ,my final task is to overclock the esc for making it useful for rugged purposes(driving n stuff). And if the control system (atmega8 and some other components) of your esc is intact, you can change the fet's to make it work i guess. i never did it till now i have just read it.

@gurutejtoor i think we can not make generalization in case of FET's .i have 3 types of ESC's and none of them use IRZ44N ,moreover there are two types of FET's used P and N type.

As long as the gate pulse required is same (which is in most of cases) we can use ANY fet accordingly, and make esc work if control part is good to go.

Hi...!
My Turnigy Plush 18A ESC burnt in last flight. But the BEC part of it is working properly. So I cut its cover pulled the heat sink plate and got a some small IC's with 4X4 pins each arranged in a proper sequence. The soldering around two of these got some color like the color of Flux Paste. So, I think these two are burnt only not the whole circuit...

Posting the pic so I hope you can see the color change....

Hey sorry bud for late response... I did checked the ESC today... it was HK 15-18a and when plugged in to RX it was not even powering the RX.. so I cut off the Heat shrink protective cover and checked all the chips... nothing looked burned and circuit was complete to my best knowledge.. next thing I tested all the wires and make sure they are reaching the PCB without any issues... this was taken off from a plane after tons of crashes and put aside as I did not had any chance to test it before..

What I found out what that the signal wire which goes to RX was actually disconnected from the metal clip.. I put that back in place and it still did not worked... tested all other wires and find out that -ve input was also tampered..fixed it back in place and volla it was working... sorry to disappoint you and thank you for forcing me to fix it Smiley
