I am in need of a 3DR Solo quad w/wo gimbal. Used is fine but new or NIB is preferred. Please reply if you have one or know someplace where I can get one for an affordable price. It's available for around 250$ in the US but shipping is a hassle.

Hi guys,

I researched a bit and found out that there are two options, buy it from eBay Global easy buy or buy it from a US store and import from the US with DHL Express.

Which of these options have a lesser chance of being detained by Customs? Will eBay safely send it to me? Will DHL safely send it to me? I heard that DHL charges the customs duty on behalf of the government and sends the product to us without any hassles. Is it the same for drones? What about eBay GEB? eBay says that if the product is not delivered to me then it will refund the entire amount. Also, eBay includes the customs duty in the price. If I calculate customs at 35% using DHL then there's a 100$ price difference between them both with eBay being more expensive.

Which one should I go for? Has anyone ordered drones/Quads from either of the options before? Should I wait for the laws to be framed properly before ordering? The laws have stayed the same since October 2014 so I don't have much hope that they'll be changed soon and I am afraid that by the time they're done all the 3DR solos will be sold out and I'll have to buy a used one which I don't want to.

Sigh, I am stuck in a dilemma. I would prefer not to do any of this and build one myself but the 3DR solo offers some really cool functionalities which are tough to replicate.

It'd be awesome if someone could help me out.

Hi Nitesh! In either case, it will pass through customs, and will likely be detained, since the parcel is large enough. I suggest you find a way to buy it through any LHS and have them get it shipped to you. You will definitely need an outsourced forwarder to clear it through customs.

None of the LHS have a 3DR Solo available. I have tried searching a lot. Do you know anyone that can get me one?
