Title: ALL LHS, Wanted complete electronics for a new scratch build
Post by: coderbanna on May 22, 2012, 06:46:13 PM
hi all LHS,  i need all electronics for my new scratch build including radio.

this is one radio looks good to me so if anybody has better deal please reply. (http://www.aeroworks.co.in/radio_8505.html)

so i need

1) a radio with receiver and simulator cable / PC Cable
2) one motor (possibly CD motor), one 20 amp esc with BEC, props, prop saver if motor doesnt have it, motor must have everything including motor mount system
3) batter 2S or 3S
4) charger (along with everything i mean any cable etc that i need with it)
5) Servos (3 nos)
6) piano wire or similar for servo rods
7) carbon rods for strength
8) any color for depron (optional)

did i miss something?

please quote me in messages or just give urls or items you prefer, however i prefer a single msg having all items at one place, like a combo. :)

Cod, yes you missed two light weight foam wheels.. and the time of the "combo" are over.. because each and every motor and related stuffs are coming in to market with clear instructions of its wattage, RPM, and the prop for it.. so, determine the all up weight of your craft, and use a motor set up for the total weight, while keeping an aspect of 10 % at least as a margin in excess.. this eliminate over starining the motor and ESC, so, can fly even at half throttle, or can lead your boat or ship in 1/4 throttle.. this also gives us a good confidance and nice performance.. go for an aproppriate motor, if you are a beginner, and not on CD drive motors, this allows you to concentrate on flight than on motor.. so, any radio, at least 4 channel, with servo reverse, will do the job nicely.. and crashing.. whatever may be the plane with you, practice only make you perfect.. so, practise.. practise.. practise.. if possible with an expert near you.. real flight is real flight.. but simulator helps a lots.. have some nice flights..

LOL, i got it the hard way nobody contacted via forum :D, but ya i contacted them on their sites and also found stuff here an there, finally have the list ready to order, transmitter etc are on the way, also the body of the plane is ready waiting for electronics to come and coloring etc :)

a standard glue stick is put on the plane to show the size.

Where did you get the dimensions/proportions ?

Did you design it yourself ?

Its going to crash !

Go to the net - find a proven design and then
make your airframe.

an easy way to test is put the equivalent
weight of components and throw it from shoulder height
it should at least glide about 20-25 feet

ya i just put it together whatever i had with me :), after balancing it glides fine. i have done the glide test with it. hope it flies otherwise i have in mind for going for either FunBat or Nutball.

Cod, a 5:3:1 proportion is the best, will fly..

Rooprishna Sir please explain the 5:3:1 ratio thing . didnt get the hang of it , sorry  :-\

Sorry Bhavesh.. if you take 5 for wing, as span, imagine is 50 inches.. then can take fuse as 30 inches.. and tail stabilizer as 10 inches.. is a rough.. so, it will be good to take the ratio like this.. all planes completed in this ratio flown well.. we can follow this calculation as a rough design.. and the rudder surface will be half of the stabilizer.. the aspect ratio 3 on fuselage gives us a good stability for level flight.. if you carefuly examine many successful aircrat design, including like Antonov AN2, Beaver, Tigermoth, Autocrat, Cessna, even Boeing.. can see the similar aspect ratio of structure.. and as a curiosity, i tried lots of design here and all flown well.. even free launching models..

hope it flies :) i have to add a nice airfoil on the wing.

Thanks a lot Roopkrishna Sir for throwing light on the ratio thing. Thanks for your valuable input   :salute:

yes, the ratio helped me a lots while designing more new aircrafts.. works well..

Roopkrishna sir this a very helpful input but can u please tell me the wing span to wing chord ratio i.e aspect ratio of the wing according to the 5:3:1 ratio

yes.. 7 inch chord.. and 7.5 maximum.. for 50 inch wingspan.. is without ailerons.. and with ailerons is 8 inch, as i inch goes to aileron.. in full length..

Roopkrishna Sir , till now whatever planes i have made i have used the basic concept of CC2C , where i divide the fuselage into 4 parts. name C C and 2 C, where C is chord of the wing . Wing span in this case i take it as 6 - 7 C.
This is the ratio i used.
Will soon be fabricating one more model , will use your concept . Thank You  :hatsoff:

wing of my odd plane being tissued, and my homemade plane balancer using pencils, popsical sticks and foam.

Bhavesh, you are saying about the placement of surfaces.. and yes, is 4, and an easy formula that proved.. place the wing in one place.. look from top.. the motor must come at it's front, at least one length of the wing chord..claerly, if the chord is 10 inch, motor mount will be at 10 away from the leading edge.. then towards the trailing edge of the wing is 2 to 2.5 of the chord, for the horizontal stabilizer.. here means about 20 inches, or 25 inches.. a big craft.. and can place with some difference.. works perfect..

Cod its simple idea.. but great..  :hatsoff:
