Think they are called flight case. Very popular with musical instrument shops. Check some DJ store / stores that provides musical instruments for events etc. am sure you'll get a lead..Smiley

Well other cheaper options can be a office briefcase.. think that should suffice the requirement. or get a custom wooden plywood box made by some local carpenter.

Id suggest to use tripod as ground station. Everyone in our field has shifted to tripod from case.  Put antenna on top and on each leg a battery, dvr. Etc. taller and foldable than case.

I would also suggest to carry a tripod, it's lighter and more compact. Plus you can adjust the height easily.

Another option might be to go with either a duffel bag or a backpack to house your electronics.(IBCrazy uses a duffel bag Grin) Duffel bags are great for directional antennae. You could also strap a tripod to your backpack and deploy it once you get to the field. Although alluminium cases look more professional(and cool), you will need a high flat surface to keep it on while flying.

The briefcase works well for me...

http://www.rcindia.org/self-designed-diy-and-college-projects/flying-on-a-3d-joystick/msg163070/#msg163070

I had an old briefcase lying around... It's lighter than the flight case and feels compact. Have since added foam pads as shoes for the briefcase for keeping on table and have some clearance to avoid scratches Wink

I have some space for a foldable tripod inside and the HUD inside (under construction) inside... The HUD can be strapped on or mounted on the tripod like Prateek uses it Cheesy... and the Rx/antenna is mounted on a top of an extendable antenna pilfered from an old music system Cheesy

The only bad part, the top tends to flip down every now and then, will have to do something to latch it in place

Strange that no one is talking about these. Or are you all too young to remember them?

They seem PERFECT!

I asked my local carpenter to make a field box out of plywood, he says it should cost around 600 with the plywood excluding the handle. you can ask them to make one sir. they are sturdy than aluminium and you can paint it with your favorite color, aluminium can have impact on electronics.

To house the screen I made a box out of coro and spray painted it black. Then the stand of the screen is glued on to the camera 'shoe'. To stop the whole thing from flipping I applied loctite to the tilt bolt of the tripod head and tightened it down.

I have now removed the screen from the tripod and have made a wood frame to hold it. Now I usually sit on the ground and look into the screen.

I picked up one of these from an Army surplus store in Ambala. Will make a perfect tool box. Need to dig it out.
