Post by: rcrcnitesh on May 20, 2016, 04:36:25 PM
Hello all,
I was in search of a watt meter to complete my thrustmeter scale. I have tried at most stores and I can't find the one which I am looking for. I was looking for this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__75944__Turnigy_180A_Watt_Meter_and_Power_Analyzer.html (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__75944__Turnigy_180A_Watt_Meter_and_Power_Analyzer.html) or this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__10786__HobbyKing_HK_010_Wattmeter_Voltage_Analyzer.html (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__10786__HobbyKing_HK_010_Wattmeter_Voltage_Analyzer.html) .

I am looking for a new piece preferebbly from an LHS if not then someone who lives in Chennai.

You might be able to build one with an Arduino and a hall effect current sensor. I was planning to build a wattmeter with the ACS758 current sensor, normal LCD display and Arduino but the sensor appears to be lost in transit.

Well that sound like an interesting project. I haven't touched a arduino in my life before and so I think it might be fun.

How is this wattmete http://www.ebay.in/itm/Watt-Meter-Amp-Meter-Power-Consumption-/111986105104?hash=item1a12e45b10:g:mNAAAOSw2x1XKGyQ (http://www.ebay.in/itm/Watt-Meter-Amp-Meter-Power-Consumption-/111986105104?hash=item1a12e45b10:g:mNAAAOSw2x1XKGyQ) ? What about this one? http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-Backlight-LCD-RC-Solar-Power-Analyzer-60V-150A-DC-Watt-Meter-Voltage-Digital-/191861012095?hash=item2cabceb67f:g:f-oAAOSwZAtXJjEF (http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-Backlight-LCD-RC-Solar-Power-Analyzer-60V-150A-DC-Watt-Meter-Voltage-Digital-/191861012095?hash=item2cabceb67f:g:f-oAAOSwZAtXJjEF)
They are both unbranded and that is what is stopping me.

I made one with an APM power module. The hall sensors generally have a bad accuracy, low end readings have bad precision too.
