go to a florist where they make bouquets with artificial flowers. Ask them for the thickest steel wire and those may work for you.

All Hobby Shops sell Spring Steel wire (in different lengths and thicknesses) one side threaded for Clevis; other side use snap connectors
Bicycle spokes work fine too, and they also have one side threaded; come in different thicknesses
You can use Carbon Fibre Rods
HK sells Glass Fibre Rods
