Title: SRINKIFY ARDUINO PROJECTS
Post by: devangflyer on July 27, 2014, 08:17:30 PM
Hi guys , I know this is not related to Rc but I didn't know where else to ask . So I have 2 hobbies 1 is aero modelling and the 2 is fish keeping , I have 3 aquariums and 2 ponds in which I keep 100 + fishes . Yesterday I was thinking about making a code with which it will automatically use the pumps to change water weekly , automatically heat the water in winter and at night turn off the Lights . Each aquarium can have its own system . The problem is that I don't want to use a costly arduino for this . I already have a sensor and pumps and etc for the code but what I want is the attiny 45 chip to take place of the arduino , I can program it with my arduino , pls tell me where can I get it online . Video where I got to know about it - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=30rPt802n1k (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=30rPt802n1k)

attiny45

or you can use attiny85

element 14 is a international electronics dealer formerly known as Farnel. They are also in India with office in Bangalore. You can safely buy from them but the only issue is they require TIN number for registration and taxing. You can get cheap arduino compatible boards (arduino clones) like ₹500-600.

So I'll have to buy from their distributors as although I have a debit card at 13 kids don't get TIN no. cards .

If your dad runs business and has a TIN, ask him for the TIN and register in his name. Kits n Spares is a dealer of element14 although they dont have all what element14 has. You can find cheap arduino clones in local electronics market too

I'll ask him , just checked kitsnspares and simple labs don't have attiny 45 , does someone know any other website where I can get attiny45 , don't want to use attiny85 as it's basically the same for my project but costs a lot more as I would be buying around 5 of them

I asked my dad he told me that he doesn't have a tin number , but he has the pan no. hat he uses to pay tax , will pan number work ?

Why you need many? you can do it with only one MicroController.

P.S: You cant use PAN. TIN and PAN are entirely different

Well one has 8 pins , I'll use one per aquarium/pond

Do you know any other website that has attiny 45 ?

Instead of 4 Attiny 45, buy 1 atmega 328 and use it for controlling all tanks. More efficient way and central control. Will be easy for data logging too in future. Atmel is in India too. you can directly buy MCU's from them though a little costly.

But , the aquariums are in different rooms and the ponds are outside the house , this much cable will cost a lot more than 50 attiny 45

it is difficult to get attiny45 . i have checked each online seller only attiny13 and attiny85 are available and attiny13 can easily serve your purpose .

you can hit and try programming one attiny13 if it works you can buy as many as you need..

Hmmm.... seems legit reason. I dont know who sells attiny 45 except element14.
Note: select PDIP package only. All others will be hard to use. (package will be small, no pins etc...) .

So I have finally decided I am going to use attiny 44 it's low cost , has enough memory , more than enough ram and enough pins .

the link you have given shows soic package and you will not be able to program them because the pins are too small as compared to dip package.

and also soldering them on the pcb will be very difficult.

That link is the wrong one , the second one is the right one , I have bought dip , straight pin only
