See if this is of interest

36” Yak12. With motor, prop, ESC, 4 servos (ailerons, flaps, elevator, rudder)
Needs a 500-1000 mah 2s lipo and Rx to fly.

Or this Sunbird 60”

With 2 servos for rudder and elevator, motor, prop and ESC.

Needs only 500-1000mah 2s lipo and Rx to fly

For packing, I’ll have to remove the tailplane by cutting/ungluing.
But not hard to reattach.

Or this.
Amazingly easy to fly.
4s lipo included. Needs only Rx.
A bit more expensive than the others though...

In case you’re wondering,
I have a lot of models hanging on the wall.

If someone takes them, Ican start building the many models waiting in boxes!

@babu.talamanchi,
I expect around 5k + shipping for the Yak or Sunbird.
Before you respond, you can consider these alternatives in similar price range

http://www.kinetichobbies.com/shop/mini-floater-rc-plane-kit/

http://www.vortex-rc.com/product/tuffstar-1500mm-epp-trainer-rc-plane/

http://rcbazaar.com/product.aspx?productid=9674

I still have the original box and packing of the Yak!

@v2 eagle
Hi Ashok,
Good to hear from you.
The Tiger Moth cost about 12k, the 4s lipo about 2k.
RCBazaar charged me about 2k for shipping.
Just weighed the original box - it’s 2.8kg empty!

Make me an offer I can’t refuse...

Always fascinate about that biplane  ;D

Title: Re: Trainer plane

@babu.talamanchi.
In view of the lack of response, I guess
1. My models too expensive, or
2. You liked the other alternatives I suggested, or
3. Your budget can’t support either of the above.

There are ways of starting on a low budget.
Depends on the stuff you already have, like Tx/Rx, lipo, charger, motor, prop etc.
Possible even if you have none of these, and are starting completely from scratch.

If youlet me know what you have, and your budget, I may be able to suggest the way ahead.
Regards

@v2 eagle,
@manojswizera,

That Tiger Moth gets to fly only about once a year. So she is looking for a more active pilot!

Do you think I got the Tiger Moth without dreaming of it for years?
Dreaming of a Dakota now...

@babu.talamanchi
Dear Friend and RC enthusiast, I don't think you will get anybody like Mr. Iyer, who is willing to help you so much to get you started in this hobby.   :hatsoff: Hats off to Mr. K.K. Iyer for all the efforts.  This hobby itself is costly but now a days one has many options to choose from.  The suggestions in the post are very good for starting your own RC hobby.  I would suggest you buy the 36” Yak12 for starting your adventure/venture in this hobby.

Wow!
Thanks for the kind words, especially from someone I don’t even know!

Maybe I should restart lending stuff like motor, ESC etc to newbies, (even a Tx/Rx in one case), a practice I stopped due to the follow up required to get the stuff back. One would expect a return in say 4-8 weeks without reminders!

Meanwhile another beginner has asked for the Yak...

More in a day or two.

That sunbird is a balsa kit? 😍 I haven't started flying with fixed wings yet. Is there any way to ship planes outside India?😜

Title: Re: Trainer plane
Post by: K K Iyer on October 04, 2018, 09:58:02 PM
@saikibian,
Welcome to the forum.
I don’t think there should be any problem in shipping parts/ kits.

If you are a beginner in fixed wing, and tell me the equipment you have, ie, TxRx, motor, prop, ESCs, servos, I could suggest something suitable...

Regards

@K K lyer
 I'm honoured.
Currently I use flysky fs i6. I have some esc's (20A and 30A), ad I have 3 blade 5inch props , 5040 pitch which I used in my 5inch quad. Very nice props.
I think I better fly a tiny trainer, I guess? Or a soarer/glider

@saikibian,

Perhaps you could look at this thread...
http://www.rcindia.org/beginners-zone/indore-bipe-a-model-for-newcomers/msg176609/#msg176609

For the Sunbird, you could look at this...

But you didn’t mention your motor!

Don't have one yet. I mean for the fixed wing actually. Was busy in New boat construction. But I have a plan to buy a 1806 2300kv .

Yak 12 booked for Bessie...
Stab I’d stuck on with only 4 spots of hot glue. So easy to dismantle and put back in original box.

Interest shown in Tiger Moth by v2 eagle and madaquif.
Await their price expectations.
As I said earlier, cost me about 12k plus about 2k for 4s lipo plus about 2k shipping from RCB.
And I’ve to see how to dismantle stab and fin without major surgery...

If weather permits, I’ll do demo flights of both this Sunday, on video!

Sunbird tail parts are also hot glued. So can be dismantled...

@ Iyed ji,
Dont mind for my delayed response. Was busy with official work at offsite from last 10days.
I was watching the forum from quiet some time. I have seen your reputation in forum . I was not expected a reply or help from you to a noob like me. Thanks for your kind heart in this aspect.
I will take your suggestions. Will pm you in some time. {:)}

In response to babu.talamunchi’s original post asking for a trainer plane, I had posted pics of my Yak12, Sunbird and Tiger Moth. Not easy for me to let them go, as they are like family members.
This Sunday, 7th Oct, the weather was just right after long.
And our airfield was lovely.
And RC Aunt, my co-pilot hadn’t flown in six months.
The time was ripe to fly the Yak, Tiger Moth and Sunbird.

Alex Bessie (bessie on this forum) wanted the Yak. He said he’s a beginner. I had some doubt if the Yak was suitable, as she had been FAR TOO SENSITIVE on earlier flights.

This Sunday I found that all she needed was some nose weight and 50% reduction in throws.
Now she’s smooth as a pussycat.
RC AUNT flew the YAK solo and pronounced her as easy to fly as the Sunbird.

I’ve sent a short video to bessie.

Here’s a slightly longer one (less than 1.5 min)

Those looking for something really inexpensive can consider this bare airframe built by one of my flying buddies, for 1500+shipping
Needs 3x9gm servos (I can provide for 500),
And motor, prop, esc, lipo, rx.

@bessie,
Do you want the Yak with the ugly arrangement of lipo taped on and a lump of plasticine nose weight?
Or can you wait till I figure out a more elegant alternative?

Post by: K K Iyer on October 19, 2018, 08:50:13 PM
@bessie,
Hope you can tolerate the delay.
New cowl under construction.
To hold lipo and nose weight internally.
Got tired of poor finish on foam cowls, so went ahead with balsa...

I wish that members who are no longer interested, post or PM a “no thanks”, so that I can avoid following up.

Await response to my PM from v2 eagle and madaquif for Tigermoth,
And from Weekendflyer for bare airframe.
And anyone interested in Sunbird...

@bessie,
Doubt if you can even notice the fibreglass covering!
Finishing on the cowl is really clean, I can remember a post on "How to make this Nose look beautiful" some time ago, makes me wonder. And inspires me at the same time, as I was designing (or rather struggling to) some plane in 3d  yesterday.
It always feels good to see your models here.

Cheers

Generally a good idea to provide reasonable air flow around the LiPo for cooling

Title: Re: Trainer plane
Post by: K K Iyer on October 22, 2018, 09:48:47 PM
@sanjayrai55,
Hence bottom of lipo exposed to airflow, and large hole behind prop for airflow to ESC and lipo...

Title: Re: Trainer plane
Post by: sanjayrai55 on October 23, 2018, 06:11:55 AM
That is correct, but personally I would prefer some cooling air flow at the other side of the LiPo too. That said, if the LiPo temperature remains within limits, there is no argument :)
