Hi,

I am on the look out for a beginner's glider plane (used/unused but working condition) which would get me off the ground ...  Wink. Pushers are desirable as I won't break the motor shaft upon crash landing, and I sure I would do may crash landings ...  Grin

Options that I am aware of are

1) EasyStar
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFRU7&P=ML

2) AXN Floater
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8359

Thanks!

Its really hard to find these beuties in India and I have not seen any used sellout in the past 4-5 months on the forums. Sadly none of the LHS stock them either  Bang Head Help Me  Cry

All  you can get locally are GL LIEBAO/Thunderbolt and Badius from Jack hobbies, Blue Bird from PaylessFlymore and CMPro Moutain Glider from Rotor.co.in.

All in all the CMPro looks ideal as it is sufficiently large (180cm WS), and ARF and not RTF, so you dont pay for throw away Radios/Motor.

I am myself dying for an Easy Star and holding my funds for the while...Saw HC fiberglass Gliders some time back (site only)... Drooled for hours!! Drool Drool Drool they are so so good...

May be the grace of glider soaring with thermal and occasionally using the EP caught the fancy of Ashutosh!! I saw an Easy Star begin flown by Mr Prashant at Jakkur!! Man its was such an spectacle. It flew for around half an hour if I am right.

But Yes, I would agree with Anwar bhai that if you are a complete rookie like me, a glider that large, without any under carriage would be a tough ask. Slow stick would be a good entry point.

Are you sure about it being an "Easy Star", which is not that big in the scheme of things. An "Easy Glider" is bigger, and the Cularis seems to be a mother ship Grin

We have multiplex products  available  for a long time  now including the easy star , easy glider pro  etc , we also arrange for multiplex products for buyers  on order within 1 week to 10 days .

In fact I think we had quite a few posts where we mentioned their availability.

In fact the Easy G Pro just sold today .

I guess it was an 'Easy Star' as I cannot miss the motor pod with pusher props and unmissable 'angled thrust'. May be Mr Prashant can confirm, a topic much irrelevant.

Hey Mr Sai, great to hear that you can arrange Multiplex products. Could you share/PM me your latests offering of their ranges which are not listed on your site ? Hope you would allow self pickup, as after 'Payless..' incident, I am scared to order such delicate items thru courier guys.

What is relevant was your comment that it is a "large" glider.  An Easy Star is not large in general, and in the Multiplex family in particular.  Just didn't want people to get the wrong impression about it being too large for beginners Smiley

Both of you could be right  there are quite a few EASY STARGLIDERS floating around .

Normally for FPV and UAV applications Easy stars are modified with Easy Glider wings .
So it looks like a huge easy star.

Ujjwal ,
I currently have the Easy Star  in stock , I will  be getting the Easy Cub , Twin Star and Easy Glider Pro to stock  around Mid february.

NONE of these are listed on your site. Would like to have info on the Multiplex range, particularly prices.

Isn't there any other way to buy from you other than eBay?

Not a pusher... still why not a regular Slow-Stick ?

Before going to the field I had seen construction videos and the 'not-so-complex' looking flying characteristics of slow stick and I was mentally confident that I can construct and fly one of these and was considering it as an option. At our flying field I have seen two red and one olive green slow sticks. When I spoke to their owners (individually) none of them recommended me on a first buy for a slow stick. All of them pointed to a lone easy star which was flying gracefully high up in the air. The easy star owner also recommended easy star which he had got it from abroad.

Not discounting your point, it is still a fact that thousands have started their RC life using Slow-Sticks Smiley  The price point is extremely attractive, you just need to know what spares you need to have Wink

I agree with you Anwar , there are many many options for beginner planes , the crucial  factor is the Budget .
Actually  you cannot  compare planes   . Slow stick  is Value for Money in its own way and so is Easy Star .

My personal experience  : I will put my money on Multiplex   Easy Cub  any  day in my personal opinion it beat even the easy star hands down as a Trainer .I am in love with this plane . Grin Grin

For an absolute beginner, the nose mounted engine is a concern. Or is not not really, especially if you are using a prop-saver ?

By far the best Glider/Motor plane I've owned is the Penguin. (I'm not sure if it's available in India) Then again it's a BIG plane, but relatively small compared to the real gliders.

The Penguin flies as if it doesn't want to land. When I first flew mine I had to rethink the length of the landing area. I managed to keep her airborne for a little over an hour and the lipo was still usable in another plane without charging. The only reason I landed was due to a sore neck.

For gliding you definitely need wingspan. Carrying a hefty lipo, motor and ESC really bogs the plane down. You need that extra wing area just to keep you aloft between thermals. It's a fine line between motor drive and gliding. The closest I've seen in an easily purchased plane would be the Bixler 1,2 or 3. Somewhat heavy but able to get a lift if thermals are around and plentiful. The smaller and heavier you get, the less likelihood of actually gliding upwards. That's why all the real gliders are so darned big, even without having a motor on board.

Whatever you choose, have fun and be safe.

I cant find anything wrong here.
though its a 4 year old thread , why cant one post his views on the topic, it may later help someone who is searching for same topic...

and as far as i have seen, Mr. propfella (addressing by handle as i don't know real name) have been revoking old and not so discussed threads, may be he is initiating for discussion to be further carried out in the same topic.
