Can someone suggest a really cheap 3 or 4 channel RC Tx and Rx set for a submarine / boat?

I am scratchbuilding a submarine and need it to control the Diveplanes, The Rudder and the Motor.

The range has to be between 50 to 100 metres and should be able to control 3 mini servos.

I am an absolute beginner as far as RC is concerned. Please HELP!!!

Regards,

VC

Seniors! Do the regular FM/2.4GHz  work for submarines ? From my electronics I know that you use ULF (Ultra Low frequency) for transmission to underground (caves/mines) and submarines. In the Movie 'Crimson Tide" they raised a ULF Antenna buoy to receive message from their command center.

I guess VC needs some expert advice.

I am a Corogamist!

I am not an expert in Subs. However, I think if you want RF to penetrate water and travel a long distance you need to use low frequency. Water has a tendency to absorb higher freqs. Obviously, 2.4 GHz might not be a good choice. I would recommend the FM sets.

vc don't even think of buying this.Reason? i have two of these(had 2 rather) . i wasted one trying to use the receiver/transmitter combo from the heli. All u get is a toy circuit board in it (no plug in type  receiver with channel for servos motors etc  ). hence it will be really difficult for u to use it for your submarine. you will have a hard time to find out which is what in these Chinese toys. even the wattage of the receiver is less i learnt in some forums.
The transmitter is not bad though . if u buy a 27mhz receiver somewhere may be u could use them.
(hellyflyer i have nothing against you! no offense meant)

Thanks Amulu.

You saved me a lot of trouble. Hellyflyer was only trying to help me, I am sure he will not be offended. Both of you are trying to help me and I appreciate your efforts.

Thanks to both of you.

Cheers!

Amulu,

I have 2 options.

1. An extremely kind hearted person has donated me a Futaba 5channel FPT5UAF Transmitter. He says I will have to buy a Tx Module, a Receiver, an ESC (RCFORALL ESC 20 A?) for my Type 500 motor and the 3 servos for the submarine. Can you guide me on this? How much will all this cost me? Where do I get it - especially the Tx Module?

2. I am getting a dirt cheap Chinese/Taiwanese 4 ch Tx + Rx + 3 Servo set (throwaway price - I guess I AM lucky) from a destroyed Heli.

What are your views on this? I will appreciate any help or suggestion that you may have. Just remember that you are talking to an idiot as far as RC is concerned. Keep it simple!

Sms or give me a missed call if it is convenient to talk now. (11.32pm) I see that you are online.........

Cheers!

well i am no expert. but  from experience i say chuck the 2nd option if the heli is similar to the one posted earlier in the thread. its not worth all the trouble( considering its toy grade heli as well). if its a hobby grade and if u get a normal receiver with 4 channels to plug in servos then go for it Thumbs Up

about the 1st option i think it seems good option.i dont know where to get the module as such. From a Google search i see that its a 72mhz radio so it wont be that hard to get. contact rcforall.in or rcdhamaka.com or rotor Chennai then might have them in stock
price wise i think a mini servo will cost u 500rs, rest depends on the product.
Again i am beginner like u but i have gone the trouble searching for stuff when i was in your position a few months ago.I think seniors in this forum can better help you about the module and the price details.
