It is almost definitely a clone/ fake. Real 3DR APM units are around 200 dollars. At least the quadkopters one is supposed to be a DiyDrones approved clone. With EBay ones, it is hard to know about the quality. RCNitesh had mentioned that he saw an APM 2.6 auction for $1. Customs should not be too much of a problem unless you order radio equipment like a telemetry set. I am not sure what the duty would be like. Plus, shipping will take a while. I think the quadkopters one is worth the price for reliability and fast shipping. If you are willing to wait and risk quality, you could get one from Ebay. Have you decided between APM and Naza yet?

Naza is more expensive but comes with excellent out of the box stability. APM requires more setup but I find that it has really cool features such as setting up auto flips on your Tx 2 position switch. If you are interested in aerial photography, go for Naza. Otherwise I would recommend APM or maybe the Crius AIO (has most of the same features).

If this is your first quad, I would suggest the kk 2.1. It is easy to use and setup and is good for beginners. It is quite cheap as well (2100 on quadkopters)

If you have time and knowledge to set up an APM, it is the best option budget wise and performance wise.
If you have big pockets and no time for setting and tuning go for NAZA, don't look back.

No Telemetry kit is necessary when you plan using telemetry and OSD is necessary if you want OSD with your FPV.

But CC3D has only simple flight controlling, no GPS, Altitude hold no return to home Sad .
But it's performance is Thumbs Up.
As it is open source, everything will evolve as happened in multiwii and APM , it is only a matter of time I hope. !

@gunnu, telemetry is just a data link from your multicopter to your ground station, for getting live flight data.the APM sends detailed data about flight controller status and location information from a GPS module over a radio link to the ground station for use with the GS software for flight planning and monitoring.

APM sends data that is intended for use with the ground station for waypoints or completely autonomous flight, by adding a Mavlink OSD you can capture some of that data to be displayed as an overlay on the video stream for FPV flight whether it be through goggles or by a monitor of some sort.

It's advisable to use a Telemetry if you plan to use mission planning and all other advanced features in APM>

The openpilot CC3D board allows to connect a GPS module. But it does not feature altitude hold or Return to home or way point navigation,. The GPS module is only for aiding location data in telemetry. Thiat is what I know about CC3D, I haven't used this board, but have heard it's stability is superior. People who have experiance with this board please correct if I am wrong.
@cyberhack, Visit this original openpilot wiki : http://wiki.openpilot.org/display/Doc/GPS+Add-on
& yes I made a deep research and comparison through different flight controller platforms (H/W and S/W) and especially opensource ones, before I got in to building a Quad Smiley
