if you have a budget of 60 to 70k go for kit then you will have choice of choosing many things as youl be buying them separetly like engines, servos, starter box, radio, tuned pipe etc,.
if you are a begineer, its better to go for the rtr as it comes with everything u need and its still pretty competitive.

Hey pravesh ,  :)

I guess thats what its gonna be coming down to .

I have been to speaking to mr.Murali of JRH hobbies.
He will be sending me an estimate for the losi 8ight rtr buggy and truggy .

I see that you have tlr 8ight ?is this a kit or rtr ???
How much did u end up spending on them totally ??

I have also been thinking of going the HONG NOR x3 kit way.
This way i plan on investing in the following
1) hong nor x3 kit -30,000 rs approx
2) airtronics mt4 remote + servos +reciver -13,000 rs approx
3) alpha race enogines - 8000 to 12,000 rs approx
4) starter box , chargers , batteries etc .5000 to 10,000 rs approx

I am just not too sure as to how good is the hong nor kit ??? Build quality etc ...Need advice from the forum elders ..

Lemme know what you guys think about my plan ..

hey u have forgotten to add cost of servos as it will be around minimum 5-6k .

my losis are both kits. i started with a rtr eight2.0(now sold) though and when i liked it and learned more, i got the 2 kits. Kapil Jolly of dogbone racing gave me the chance to be one of their team drivers and helped me with the kits and parts. prices i cannot disclose, sry.
i have also imported stuffs for myself like engines, servos, etcs etcs,..

losi eight rtr is the cheapest easiest and best way to get started if its first time. or u can get the hongnor x3kit or losi eight2.0 kit too, but kits require building and some work. kits make a lot of sense too as in the long run rtrs will have to be upgraded to a kit performance standard but only thing is you'l have to spent more and if you are ready, go for any kit you like.

losi and hongnor both are good buggies but i have experience only with losi buggy and truggy rtr and kit and i like it a lot as it drives a little differently than the rest of the other cars and there is a lot of aftermarket parts support for it and mr. murli can tell you about x3 as he has one.  :)

Hey Pravesh ,
The mt4 remote from airtronics comes with • 2 x Sanwa SRM-102 Servos
So iam thinking i will start of with these 2 servos and then later invest in better servos
What say ???

its always better to get dedicated servos. plus free servos never last.

get a good steering servo alteast when you buy the buggy. use the sanwa ones for throttle for the time being, the servos will get destroyed in 5 minutes if u use it for steering servo on the tracks. 3kg torque is not evough in any 8th scale application.  :)
losi rtr comes with a 9kg servo.

Kkk , Pravesh ,
Thats my game plan too .
What servos do u recommend which are available here in india ???

Also does ot make sense investing in a Vernier callier for the kit building process ????

verniers calipers are very uselful in rc. all kindds.
hitec is available through rotor.in and i think murli will have some savox too, ask dogbone racing if they have any too. for buggy 8th scale with speed and torque specs of about 200ozpersomething minimum and speed of about .15 sec

Where can i pick up a good electronic vernier calliper for rc hobby scale ????

I have seen something like this http://www.gaugesindia.co.in/precision-vernier-calipers.html

But they are a bit expensive .. Around 2k to 3 k .

Also found this calliper on ebay india
http://www.ebay.in/itm/LCD-DIGITAL-VERNIER-CALIPER-150-MM-6-1-PC-Callipers-Gauge-MICROMETER/160933975805?ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1&ih=006&category=20766&cmd=ViewItem#ht_1236wt_1157

Seems in my budget .. I guess i will call for one ..
