Information sharing improves knowledge of both.

I use nicrome wire (heater coil wire) for SPADs.
Its easy to use, Dam cheap, Easy for Z bend with nose plier, passes through flutes (enters and out) as guidepipe and above all, RUST PROOF.
You can use the same with normal empty ball pen refill as guide pipe, attached with fuselage if your model is balsa one.

My earlier thread given for photo referance...

Pushrods I purchased have fallen short of length by 4-5 cms (elevator and rudder); (really bad engineering procurement on my part)  Bang Head
I cannot push back locations of servos (due to CG and mounting constraints).
I am considering using binding screws to join the small deficient length of pushrod. Gives me (added) flexibility during trimming. However, have to check for free movement after servos have been mounted.
Was just wondering if these pushrods can be joined by welding ?? (pushing thru' guide-tubes will be a problem, though). Please advise, experts.

Options:

1: Please visit a Hardware store, there you will find a thicker gauge steel wire, along with the construction steel binding wire.
2: Umbrella spokes
3: Bicycle spokes
4: Use flexible wire but concealed in a medical drip tube . (just like a bike's cables) This idea is used in the Banggood U-Glider .

All the older models (and many modern ones too - see Sharma models today too) use short metal pushrods joined by a length of wood

Here's an idea

Use bits of bicycle spoke, 2 mm for the metal part, thread on a clevis at one end, on the other you can use a linkage stopper, or another clevis

You can use wood, CF Tube, Arrow shaft etc. for the centre part

Bind the metal part well using twine and a whipping, then run some glue over the twine. Don't make a hole as in the picture, I make the end of the spoke pointy, then bend about 3-5 mm at 90 degrees, insert it into the wood, then bind

It takes a lot more time to type this than to make it Wink  Cheesy

A very good alternative as suggested by Sanjay .

I'll have to forsake the guide-tubes. also these rods have to be suitably threaded. (Procured rods are plain steel with z-bend on one end, I forget thickness).

But a single piece p-rod gives me more confidence and less worry.

Then just buy spring steel wire of appropriate diameter, and still ue your outer tubes

Google the nearest spring manufacturer in your area, and tell him what you want. He'll sell it to you. Not expensive at all

I buy my stock from Faridabad; it's full of spring manufacturers! Make my LG, pushrods etc from it

Which model are you making anyway?

What exactly is your definition of Pushrods?
"using CF rods and Dowels are double work and won't give that much strong control s" What experience do you have to make such a sweeping statement?

"Double Work"  We are builders here!

Thank you Sanjay , Shaiju for your supportive advice.

Pushrods (2 at least) required are of 600mm length , 1.5 mm thickness.

I have managed a source, so this requirement ends for now.
