The thread started like this: "Starting this thread in the hope that it may be of some help to young members looking for an inexpensive, easy to build model that is safe and easy to fly."

And now you end it like this: "728 views so far, but responses stopped.

Am now putting up INDORE BIPE for sale, rx ready.

Hence closing this thread and shifting to Sales board.

Goodbye"

K K Iyer

Today at the field got lot of kicks from fellow members.
Came back and saw your post.
Need to get my head examined.
Have two days left to do so in this financial year.
Will do innext two days.
Thanks for your concern.
Awaiting a few (well deserved) kicks from someother seniors too.

Bumping this thread in view of recent requests from members wanting to build their first RC model.
Enough dimensions/details on pics, so no need for a plan!
(BTW, the model has since been gifted to an old friend)

ha ha,first I didn't get it from your PM, thanks, Iyer sir.

@romanxdsouza,
Many opinions on trainers for newbies, all correct in different perspectives.
One view, esp in the US, is that a 40 size glow trainer is best.
RC Aunt says my 40 powered SoloStar is smoother than all my electrics.

But there is the issue of affordability too.
This bipe can be made with a single sheet of depron.
Say 100 bucks.
Add 1200 for Donkey combo (motor+esc) from Hobbysea.
Add 500 for two servos.
Add 100 for CF tube.
Add 50 for props.
All told under 2000.

From design point of view, the objective was low wing loading without increasing size.
If you see the video in the first post and I think the 29 th, you'll see how easy it is to fly.

Motor mounting. Couldn't be simpler.

Model doesn't weigh much. But flown regularly in wind exceeding 10-15km. Indore is windy!

Other data:

Material - 6mm biofoam. One sheet more than enough!
Spars - 2mm od CF tube.
Dihedral braces. Two 3" pieces of cycle spoke, bent in the middle.
Spar location 2" from LE
CG on top wing spar.
Power - Donkey ST2204 1700kv and 10A ESC combo from HK
1300 mah 2s lipo
8x4 prop
1" lightweight wheels. Undercarriage legs thin spring steel wire. Let it flex, don't make strong/heavy.

Let me know if i've missed any detail.

Edit:
KITNA DETI HAI?
Flies on under 25watts, or 3amps. 10 minutes on half battery consumption.

sir any addresses where 6mm styrofoam svailable

K K Iyer

Not styrofoam (thermocol). Its depron (biofoam). Even 5mm will do.
Sources
Vortex-rc in Allahabad
Bandi Traders, Rajwada in Indore
Stationery shop (forgot name), A.B.Chowk in Pune
No idea about Ahmedabad, sorry.

I think the cheapest is a dealer in Crawford Market in Mumbai. A year or two ago someone had posted the name, address and phone number in this forum, but i forget who and which thread...
Happy hunting!

Imperial fire

Single sheet of depron 100 bucks?? No way.
Also beginner may mean different things to different people...but that biplane I think I little too fast...beginners won't get time to think and respond...
Flies nice tho...

SI74

Time for me to build one. Thanks Iyer sir for the specs.

K K Iyer

@SI74
Good to hear that you plan to build the Indore Bipe.
Pics on page 1 of this thread show a scale/ruler alongside each part.
You have flown a lot of models in your front yard landing on badminton court.
So you'll be able to respond to Imperial Fire's fear that it will be 'too fast'

Btw, since it needs only some 25watts for its sub 300gm weight, a small motor, a 6 or 10 amp Esc, and a 500mah 2s lipo are enough. The power train I used is an overkill - enough for continuous consecutive loops  ;D

I look forward to a video of a flight in your front yard, landing on the badminton court!
Best wishes.

K K Iyer

Wow! Looks better than mine!

Only two days to complete from scratch and test fly!

Pl post details of power train, all up weight etc

And badminton court landing  ;D
