while you are building your high wing trainer, in the meantime get trained on the Sim first before actually going to the field and fly

Re: Need help with starting in RC planes
Hi mate,
I totally agree that you need urself first to get a simulater to learn the Airplane controls and get urself a high-wing trainer (40 size to start with) and test fly with someone who have the experience in RC Airplanes or train urself to a level that u can fly comfortably in the simulator( Take-off/Normal flying/ Landing). Always remember...it looks hard when u start first, but then becomes easy as a second nature. When starting to fly, always face the wind and take off and face the wind when landing. Never fly in gust / cross wind until u gain some experience.
If u dont have the budget now nor the access to the simulator than try to find someone who have experience in RC Airplanes who can guide you in the building process of an Airplane to get a better understanding. A good thing is to go to a RC Shop near by and get some help if available in your area. If u need any help, u can always contact my email so I can help u.
Good luck and happy flying

Re: Need help with starting in RC planes
hey guys, I'm very happy to make myself a part of this forum & am very excited about planes. I was since I was born. Only due to financial conditions I put up till now.
BTW I'm a B.Tech 3rd year.
So, i've finally come up with the following part list.. Its going to be a long endurance craft rather than a sport..
1. BLDC EMAX GT 2820/07, from RCD
2. 11x7 EMP props, from RCD
3. Airtronics SD 6G, yet to order from RCD
and planning to source these from HK (cause none of them is stocked by LHS, if somebody has them at a reasonable price i'll be more than happy to buy from them)
1. Turnigy 60A Plush ESC ( was planning to rather make one considering that a 160A 3mOhm MOSFET costs just 40 rupees, microC and drivers are cheap too, but, I lack resources to get them all together..)
2. Turnigy 4S 5000mAh 20C
3. Turnigy Accucel 6 Charger
4. plus some heat shrink tubes, some connectors
5. servos too..
Apart from these major components is there anything I'm missing.
What do you think about the setup ??
I would also be glad if you all could guide me through some issues i'll be facing..

Re: Need help with starting in RC planes
Your ESC choice is border line, might want to go a bit higher.
You will need a prop-adapter, if one does not come with the motor (RCDhamaka website seems to be inaccessible, at least to me... so can't verify).
What plane are you going to put this setup on ? A balsa model in the hands of an absolute beginner (if you are one!), sounds like asking for trouble (unless you have local help with testing/trimming/buddy flights and you have practiced well on a sim).

Re: Need help with starting in RC planes
well, yeah I'm an absolute beginner. I'm quite familiar with flight dynamics even though I haven't had any practical experience. yep, I got the propeller adapter with the motor. I'm planning a foam model with carbon fibre reinforced wings, span ~150cm. got some other lightweight materials also like bamboo slits.. but will wait to see how carbon fibre performs after I get some.
how about this ESC then ?

looks like aluminum shell, should help in cooling..
thanks a lot..
