I pestered VC to get me a simple boat kit, and he kindly obliged
Damn! it's that AMAZING workbench! it's BACK!! :(
your very lucky to get the time and space to have a dedicated workbench like that! :salute:
Hull build is straightforward. Could not bend the stringers enough to really get them in without snapping (no steam) so did some jugaad!
Thanks Aniket...don't put nazar on my workbench; I built it myself!
here's a easy way to bend balsa:: chew it.... not hard, just force saliva into it... then bend it into shape and hairdryer it....
but don't tell anyone you did this, or they'll think twice before touching your boat.. :P
you can also use vinegar....
Wow! That is some work space you've got there Sir. Will you adopt me as a younger brother? ;D
VC: I'll will it to you :giggle: :giggle:

Building.....
Good build Sir! Congrats. Please check your email.
Thanks so much VC
More...
Painting....dirty job. Plus I used Enamel (Oil Paint) which takes ages to dry!
OK, now only electronics left :)
And another view
Chief, where do you plan to sail this. Yamuna looks dry. Oh you should've told me earlier, I just invested in a pilot spray paint gun from Chawri, we could've used it for painting the boat
And goes without saying...looks very good
Damdama has water ;D
Which gun? Electric or air? If air, need compressor too
It's the electric one...

Priyum, why is Anand an exalted 'Sir' and Sanjay just 'Sanjay'? ???
Rai Sir, How is she faring now? Here are, as promised, a few pointers for your next 48" build. As desired, these models require the least amount of detailing and will look rather impressive at that scale. Just google 'Chris Craft boats' and see what you can dredge from the net.
Edited to include a bigger plan view of the XK 19.
Some more, I am trying to build the blue one (XK 19 last 3 pics) out of styro. Hull has been shaped a year ago, thereafter she has been in the dry docks. Features a simple hull incorporating fast racing lines. Plan view in my earlier post above.
Wow VC, these look daunting. Aren't Chris Craft full size boats? How does one then get plans for a model?
That finish.......wow!
Sir, the first picture of Reply # 25 (Red) and the first 3 pictures of Reply # 26 are not of real boats but Computer Graphics generated models!
:giggle: :giggle: OK. Now I'm undaunted >:D
@VC sir, pardon me for my mistake, sorry to the seniors here, after all im new here :P
