Hi,

am planning (made up my mind) to buy traxxas E-Revo 1/16, here in US and will be carrying by flight as am moving to India.

ERevo Item which I will buy : http://traxxas.com/products/models/electric/71074erevovxl116

I will only upgrade the batteries to LiPo.

Hence need some advice :

Q1 : What other spares and other accessories to be bought, before I leave US, so I dont need to search in India (regular wear and tear)?

As the standard package comes with NimH batrteries., I will need to buy LiPo where the dealer said I need to buy 2 2S liPo.

Q2 : Can I buy other brand LiPo and use it on ERevo, meaning is it compatible?

Q3 : Am not sure how much voltage is needed for its motor, min and max for power. Can you suggest how many 2S or 3S LiPo batteries can be bought? I aslo need to check how many spare LiPos are allowed by airport authorities. Any idae?

http://traxxas.com/products/models/electric/71074erevovxl116-accessories.

Q4 :From this list, what are the required accessories that should be bought? I will be using ERevo on dirt, off-road ,FYI.

The dealer suggested me to buy a charger, which they had one in stock :

ITEM 1 : http://www.racers-edge.com/Racers_Edge_SureCharge_2010_Pro_AC_DC_Lipo_Charger_p/rcesc2010.htm

I thought of buying this from Traxxas : EZ-Peak Plus, 6amp, LiPO & NiMH fast charger

ITEM 2 : http://buy.traxxas.com/product_info.php?products_id=5395

Q5 : Which one do you recommend to use in India for LiPo battery charger for ERevo, ITEM 1 or ITEM 2? or, do you suggest a totally different one ?

Please throw your inputs for Q1 to Q5. Atleast Q4 and Q5, is what I need details, if you have time.

thanks in advance,

MM

Avoid 3s lipos. 2s ones will do the job.

You can use lipos from other brands so long as they fit in the battery box.

If you won't be going to a larger scale vehicle soon, a simpler charger will suffice. The Racers' edge charger is overqualified for MERV lipos.

Spares would be arms, a set of rockers. Traxxas India provides fairly good support.

For what it is, the Traxxas charger is overpriced.

Thanks for the valuable info.

which "simpler charger" do you recommend , a popular brand available in USA or India, that can charge LiPo or NimH?

Thanks

If you won't be charging big lipos( 5000 mAH+), a 50W charger will do. you can go for the iMax series of chargers.

If you plan on going to 1/8 scales, a bigger charger would be recommended.

A future proof one would be the iCharger106B+ with a PSU, both from http://www.progressiverc.com/

Thanks.

Now that you mentioned 1/8 or 1/10, am curious. Are there any chargers that can charge LiPo for 1/16 and 1/8 and 1/10? pardon me on my limited knowledge on RC.

am definitely gonna buy 1/16 now and use it for  a year or so, but I will add a 1/8 or 1/10 later.

I can buy LiPo and the RC Truck in India, but charger, if I can buy in US for future purposes, it will be good.  Wink

Please provide me your suggestion as well, so I can finalize.

Thanks

A charger than can charge a 4s 5000 mAh at 5A will be good enough for everything you might need.

The iCharger I mentioned will be futureproof and will be ideal if you wish to stay in electric RC for a while.

If you're going to stick to smaller scales, a bigger charger would be pointless.
