Title: Difference between Propeller types.
Post by: abhi.vishw on March 10, 2015, 12:10:02 PM
Hi,
Another newbie question,
I have been on RC sites which specify a particular type of propeller like APC,GWS,JXF & EP but they have similar size variants. And the model maker usually suggests one of these types.
Is there any major difference between these propellers like performance/durability or they are the same but with different makes? ???

FT suggests using APC (http://rcmumbai.com/index.php/product/electric-8x4e-apc-style-composite-propeller/) type of propeller but if in case as a cheap alternative or if its not available can i use this (http://rcmumbai.com/index.php/product/emax-ep8040-dd-8x4-propeller/) type of propeller?

Thanks

Yes, each of the makes have different charecteristics and shapes. But generally speaking gws makes props for the masses and apc are slightly more expensive but quality wise are higher. But this isnt always true so yes same size props by different makers should work if you arent looking for most optimum shape, size for your application.

The application and characteristics vary a lot between the type of propellers(not manufacturer names!!)
effects include fast wear of motor, poor efficiency, poor flying characteristics and the model may not lift at all.
