What does one do about the line and handle? What alternatives are available in India? Fishing line?

yup fishing line is one, here are some types recommend by wiki  not sure if all of them are available in India

Cotton
Dacron

Manja or Manjha (would not recommed using this unless you are wearing protective gear on your fingers)
Nylon
Polyester
Rayon

Polyester string can be here I think as this can take much load than other and too much flexible too. The string shown in the picture can take 30-50 KG of weight, believe me.

And costs Rs. 8/- per Guli (Small as in Picture) and Rs.12/- for Big.

The kites needs strong line(string) as they are big.

yes, u can check its strength by pilling up the Gas Cyinder Cap string. It is the same string what kalyan sir is saying..

Each one of them has it's own / unique way of flying...I just can't compare the amount of fun you have as these are all so stable, aerodynamic and easy to fly all you need is a Windy Day

I also worked on the Last Poll option (Price too high)

Now the Price of all kites with line is Rs.760/- inclusive of shipping

Except the last military plane kite as I have not yet calc the shipping and the mehtod to ship the huge thing.
