Haven't posted on this forum for quite a while. After years of free flight have in the past year been dabbling in RC stuff.
Now the monsoons have set and therefore time to get into some indoor action. The large 4 badminton court space at the BITS college campus 10 mins from my place is fortunately accessible to me.
Converted my Hangar Rat that has been safely in a box for many years (almost 10) to Electric FF.
8520 motor with reduction gears,
1S lipo 300 MaH, and timer.
Covering - 10 micron laminating film
AUW - 34.5 gms.
Can shorten the wires to make things neater and also save some weight.
Added a rudder and elevator with very thin strip of soda can sheet for hinges to adjust trim. The aluminium hinge will hold the set trim.
Timer with band burner developed and being supplied by my Aeromodelling colleagues son who is an electronics whiz.
The 8520 motor with reduction gear assembly is available on eBay for around $10.
This timer is going to be in action at the US NATS in the E20 event.
With this setup - especially the timer for which there was no earlier local source - many indoor rubber models can be converted to electric FF.
Pics being downsized - will be posted.

@Glidiator,

Welcome back, sir.

Timer with band burner? Curious. Pl share some details.

For DT pop up band burning, we used cigarettes before we were old enough to smoke!

Needs separate battery for 10a heater?
Made in India by Mr Khare's son?

I got a similar timer for Control Line, in England.

Yes made by Madhav Khare's son.
Has developed a CL timer also - I have one of the prototypes. This is for brushless motor.
The FF time comes in 5amp and 10 amp version for brushed 1S lipo motors
No seperate battery required for band burner
