I ordered lg g2 korean version refurbished and are you sure i should wait and not complaint or contact in post office is it normal??
Moreover, how many days will it remain stuck at customs will the status change before delivery or it will remain the same unless delivered?

My parcel with DHL was stuck at Delhi customs for almost 11 days just because it had "propellers" in it. Customs officer said that it was a restricted item (drone parts) & needed DGCA NOC. I don't understand when our babu's mind acts in which direction. I had to clarify that these are not drone parts.

China is exhibiting manned drones in CES 2016 & we are prohibiting 10" & 11" props to be imported to our country.

You need to wait bro.. I think they will impose import duty as it is held at customs.. Wait for at least 8-10 days.. status will be updated..

I had ordered a dual OS tablet PC for personal use from china on 14th december 2015. The seller shipped it via EMS as opposed to expedited shipping that i had opted for.

On 28th December, the tracking status showed that my parcel was retained by customs and asked to contact customs via phone or the email provided in the tracking status. I went ahead and called them. The lady asked me to email the payment receipt, invoice,etc. Later i received a reply from them on my email stating the duty,fine and penalty as the value was over Rs 2000. The email also included a declaration/waiver of show cause notice form which they asked me to sign and email them a scanned copy of the same.I did not want to face any issues and hence i signed it,scanned it and sent it to them to avoid problems.

My parcel was cleared from customs office and delivered to me on 7th January. I paid the custtoms duty, fine and penalty to the postman who delivered my parcel. Yesterday i have received an order from the customs office which gives the details of my parcel and their analysis of the same. The following sentences in the order have me scared and concerned as i have no clue what the order is for.

In the Discussion and finding section - The importer has imported the impugned goods for personal use without being in possession of an IEC No issued by the Directorate General of Foreign trade,as required.

The order section - ( After mentioning my customs duty, fine and penalty for releasing the parcel) - The order is passed without any prejudice to any other action that may be taken under any other provisions of customs act,1962 or any other law for the time being in force.

In their discussion and findings the have acknowledged that my parcel was for personal use. Then why does it say that i require an IEC No?


Why have they sent this order to me??Also is their going to be any other legal action that is going to be taken against me is the biggest question.

This is my first international purchase and i have no clue as to how the customs work or the customs act.Any replies or answers to the above questions from experienced members will be greatly appreciated. Please help me

Dont worry , It is a legal formality informing you that a order (judgment) is passed on the findings and communication with you. It all happens after you have released the goods.
You are correct that goods imported for personal use do not require IEC code. You can refer this

Send them the following documents
Original invoice indicating value 300$
Paypal/credit card payment proof
End use - write personal use
ID if they ask for one

hmmm but at this point if i send the original remitance statement. wont they count under fraud, and every item is send as gift by undervaluing the item price. i am a bit concerned.

Wait for more 4-5 days and  check if the status changes. Otherwise call the custom department mumbai. Dont tell them you bought the phone.. just tell them that its a gift.

Contact your seller and ask him to increase the buyer protection. BTW which handset you bought? Honorbuy.com is a better site than Aliexpress when you want to buy mobile. For other cheap stuffs, aliexpress is good..

Just wait for few more days, and call them, if they ask for more documents. Send them as they say. At most they will charge you with duty and penalty. It is normal for them and they very well know it is not a gift and value is more than 30$. If you wish you can send it back to seller, but for that you need to inform them in writing or email.

yes sure i will wait, and call them. but i am in felling that if i provide them the original invoice of 326 $ (291+35 shipping) i will be charged an wooping custom tax of around 9000 INR which i am not ready to pay. will see what will happen.

and can any one help me with the correct and exact number of mumbai customs. as i have called them but that is not the correct and exact number. 022-26156063 they are saying its EMS number.

Aparently i had called the mumbai customs today, and they are saying that they have opened the package and came to know that its an galaxy note 4. They are saying that its an restricted item and cannot be imported,  for this if you want to claim you have to have pay an panality of 6000 plus 41 % of the invoice value. What shall i do now.

What is the reason that they have told for the item being restricted?

Its an non importable good itseems,  so they have restricted. If i send them the payment proof they will calculate teh tax amount and add penality and send it to me.

What should i do now any advices.
